Hi. that seems to be to the norm for Icelandic patterns, they just assume,that you know these things and don´t give you proper instructions, it is extremely annoying, I´m Icelandic and for the most part I don´t like knitting them, they are super basic and not inclusive in sizing either.

Hey Dan... I am a Master Spinner and I would gladly spin you a skein of yarn. Do you have a particular breed of sheep in mind? Or let me know what you are going to knit with it and I will spin you a 100 gram skein.
