Summer of Stitching - Beach Days Cross Stitch! (Patreon)

Hey everyone!!

TINY CORRECTION TO THE FABRIC SIZES FOR THE BAG MAKING - huge apologies, I've changed two of the sizes for the fabric pieces for the bag making. Please ensure you use this corrected version when cutting your fabric. The adjusted pieces are highlighted in bold.

We are only a few weeks away from our Summer of Stitching Cross Stitch courses!! The fun starts with a beginners guide to cross stitch on the 20th of June 2023. We commence the Beach Days Cross Stitch course and then the bag making from the 27th June 2023.

I promised you I would let you know what 'I' used for the series, so here it is!

Materials required for ‘Beach Days’ cross stitch

• 14 count Aida fabric measuring 13.5 inches x 11 inches. A pale colour or white/cream will work best, I will be using a very light blue.
• DMC stranded cotton in the following shades -  368 light pistachio green, 453 light shell grey, 700 bright green, 718 plum, 797 royal blue, 996 medium electric blue, 3766 light peacock blue, 3806 light cyclamen pink, 3821 straw
• Size 24 cross stitch needle
• Sharp scissors
• 9 inch round hoop
• Needle minder (optional)
• Thread organiser or bobbins - you can watch my 'Introduction To Cross Stitch' video to see how I organise my threads.

Materials required for making project bag

• Your finished ‘Beach Days’ cross stitch piece.
• 18 inch closed end zip in the colour of your choice.
• Fusible fleece - 2 pieces 15 inches x 11.25 inches. I always use Vlieseline (formally Vilene) H640.
• Lining fabric - 2 pieces 15 inches x 11.25 inches.
• Outer fabric - 1 piece 15 inches x 11.25 inches

- 1 piece 6.75 inches x 5 inches

- 1 piece 14 inches x 4.5 inches

- 1 piece 10.75 inches x 2 inches

- 1 piece 15.5 inches x 1.5 inches

• Handle fabric - 1 piece 10 inches x 4 inches

I used fabric from Liberty (quilting cotton) in the collection ‘Riviera’. You can however use any fabric you like, in a quilting cotton weight. You will require a sewing machine and a basic sewing knowledge.
