Welcome to 'The Bakery Bears Advent Calendar 2020'

It’s that wonderful time of year when I tell you all about the yarn you’ll need for this years Advent Calendar design !!!! I really hope that you’re as excited about this as I am - I can’t wait !!

  • The Bakery Bears Advent Calendar 2020 is available in full to Silver, Gold & Platinum Patrons - Join us every day from the 1st to the 24th of December for a special little video. 12 of which will be the mystery knit along where we will create this years Advent Calendar Design
  • Day 24 of the Advent Calendar will be available on Christmas Eve to ALL Patrons

The yarn I used for my sample is pictured above. It’s 2 mini skein sets from Elderflower Stitches. Each set contains 5 x 20g of fingering weight yarn. Each mini skein is 85m. The 2 sets I used are gradients in the colourways ‘Pointe Shoes’ and ‘After The Rain’. So in summary, you will need 10 x 20g (85m) of fingering weight yarn.

You don’t have to use specific mini skeins, you could use leftovers in the equivalent amounts. The most I used of a mini skein was 17g, so I would suggest that you have the full 20g of each - just in case.

I would suggest you choose tonal, semi solids or delicately speckled yarns. Light/Medium strength colours will show the design off to it’s best and I wouldn’t recommend very dark colours.

It’s entirely up to you whether you choose gradients as I have, or 10 different yarns - personalise your project however you like.

To knit your project you will need a 16 inch (40 cm) circular needle, in size 3.25mm. The gauge I got with my sample was 28 stitches to 4 inches (10 cm). This is an unblocked gauge.

So, I hope you’re now all running to your stash in search of the perfect yarns !!! Roll on December the 1st I say !!

Lots of festive hugs

I can't wait! I ordered an Advent of minis for the first time this year, and am so excited to use it in this project. Thanks Kay!

Hi Can I just ask about the cable length? I always get confused about whether the cable length required includes the needles as well? I’m assuming it does but thought I’d better check! Thanks xxx
