Welcome back to Season 2 of our 'Design Diary' series!

We are so delighted to return with a special summery episode of 'Design Diary'. Whilst we wait for the 'Bag Making' course to being on the 2nd of July, today Kay joins you to talk about the journey to her latest platinum design. The question is, when should you not release a pattern? In this episode Kay talks you through a situation all designers find themselves in. She then shares with you the wonderful journey that led to the release of ‘The Endy Bits Scarflette’.

Join Kay as she:

  • Shares with you the story behind ‘The Endy Bits Scarflette’ https://www.patreon.com/posts/endy-bits-2024-105085666

  • Talks through where the inspiration came from and how she turned that inspiration into the finished pattern

  • Discusses the sock designs which nearly became the Endy Bits pattern

  • Talks through the dilemma faced when a pattern looks similar to others that are available

  • Shows you some of her prototype patterns

  • Mentions the ‘Janes Mitts Course’ coming 1st-27th August 2024 https://www.patreon.com/posts/summer-of-2024-104966061

My goodness Kay that was really quite a journey you have been through to reach your sweet little Endy Bits Scarflette! (Cutest name ever by the way!) You know... Anyone who has heard you talk about even just one or two of your designs would know just how much heart, and thought, and work, is behind each and every one. You always take your inspiration spark and dive deep into pondering it, and exploring different options, and deliberating on the experience, and putting the polish on the finish and detail, and bringing it into a beautiful pattern with each and every detail thoughtfully and deliberately included. You are just not the sort who would ever steal or poach another designers ideas. It is not who you are, and also you are just too busy in your own creative space and process to have time to try to poach someone else's work... Please know even if there ever was a coincidence in the release of your work and another designer, we would never, even for a moment, think you had done anything other than your normal beautiful process of creativity. Your work just has so much heart, and so much of you in it. I love Design Diary... such a beautiful little window into each of your gorgeous designs... ✨

I always enjoy your Design Diaries. This is a lovely design and I look forward to making one. I like the seasonal versions idea.
