I think shape-shifter guy was going to burn the nurse's body so it was nearby. Then when he killed Charlie, he stashed his body and put the nurse's body on the ground.

Also, I believe that the actress who played Agent Dunham was going to leave the series after the first season so they wrote in Agent Jessup and Olivia was going to die. Then they changed their minds or something. I'm sure there's a more knowledgeable fan out there who could explain it better.

So, remember in the S1 finale there was that near-miss while Olivia was driving and you were like, "why was that there??" That was the "mission failure" the typewriter mentioned. She was supposed to not meet with William Bell, but she avoided the shapeshifter's attack. Then she tells the nurse she met someone and ended up at the accident. She came back through her windshield xD
