Thoroughly enjoyed this one, Greg! I was so pumped this morning for you to hear the theme song and you did not disappoint! Please check out the English version of the original though! It's a classic old school theme that explains the plot of the show for new viewers ha. Now I shall patiently await Robotech!

The music track that is played during the warp jump always gives me goose bumps. Its so haunting. But I always look forward to hearing it because you know something interesting is about rear its head. This show has so many interesting details that the creators of the show didn't have to put in, but did. For instance, after Admiral Okita had given the order to fire the anchor, you see the 'gunner' watching the anchor's chain extend from his station after having launched the anchor. Greg was correct to state that no matter the intention of a new invention, Humans have a patent for turning anything into a potential weapon. Now that the Yamato's crew and its captain are aware of the potential monster they have created, they now must bear the burden, especially its captain, to balance the use of that that power against the need to survive and the Human tendency to sometimes overcompensate with overwhelming violence against any opposition. Not too much as add to Character updates this week, since you watched this episode immediately after Episode 2 and no major characters were introduced this week. Glad to see you are enjoying the heck, perhaps even more, out of this show. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** Gamilans Character List ** (Additional) Major Hiro Yuuki (DECEASED) - Major Yuuki was the commander of the floating continent outpost on Jupiter, until he perished when the contintent was destoryed by the Yamato Note about the cat creature Major Yuuki was holding. This creature is a native animal from the planet Zalts, homeworld of Colonel Shulz and Major Gantz both stationed on the Gamalon Pluto Advance Base. As seen it is often kept as a pet by people of that world. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As of this episode, the Earth has 363 days left.

While I hadn't seen this show in its original Japanese dub format. I do recall that even in the English dub, the names of the Gamilans were displayed in Japanese (and with English equivalent overlay on top of them for the English dub), so surmising from that. When the Gamilan character spoke, for the most part, I don't recall seeing additional subtitles to indicate that the character was speaking in a alien language. So, I'm guessing the aliens would speak Japanese for the convenience of the audience to understand.

This is such a wonderful show, really enjoying your reactions. To answer your question on how the Gamilas language was treated in the Japanese dub, same as the English dub. Episode two they spoke their own language with Japanese subtitles, episode three they spoke in Japanese.
