Hey!

I said I'd make a more in-depth update so here it is!

Optimisation work

I mentioned this would be one of the things I'd focus on and it ended up basically being the main thing I focused on since the last update. I started out running the game on my non-gaming laptop and it ran at an abysmal 17 fps... fast forward to now and it runs at 100 fps, which is much better but I hope to make it better still - it's good to have some breathing room. Then, there's still some sudden hiccups here and there I have to smooth out before I move on to doing clean-up work, but things are definitely progressing well.

I also decided to experiment with Android just to have another reference point for how the game performs on other devices - ultimately I do want an Android release so why not get ahead of that now? After messing around with getting it working at all, it finally ran... at 3fps - oh no! Thankfully the optimisations I did also helped here, as it ended up running at 60fps (at least?), which is a pretty good improvement from where it started. I don't really intend to do an Android build or focus on it until some time after the PC alpha/demo, but I'll keep testing it to ensure the game's performing adequately.

Animation work

So I posted the frog monstergirl lady a couple of days ago, but... I've actually done four new animations since last time alongside the optimisation work and have one more in an early stage, somehow. I felt so occupied with the optimisation work but the breaks I took ended up being pretty productive with these animations:

- Two new animations for the café simulation I mentioned in the previous quick update post. Previously, you served the customers until they had fun with you on the table, but these two new ones involve the customers and the other staff ladies who become busy and unable to help you while they're enjoying themselves.

- One new animation for the main menu screen, it's a simple looping animation of the player and a tentacle, but higher resolution than what's normally in the game.

- The early progress one is an animation that I initially counted as part of the postponed animation work I mentioned in the previous post, but I found some time - it's a quest reward in the dark forest, and it involves the player, another magical lady, and a mirror-entity-man...

I want to post another animation soon - I haven't decided on which one yet, but it'll probably be in a week or so, because posting new animations can get surprisingly distracting to the rhythm of working on the project

That's it for this one - I'm gonna keep optimising and get started on clean-up work and continue towards the alpha/demo release!
