As for the alligator thing, I think it's just a translation issue. I don't know why crunchyroll translates it that way, but the fansubs I'm use to translate it as "crocodile" instead, because of the obvious. There will be one later where a word said in English by the voice actor is translated as a different English word in the subtitle. It's wild.

It's not. The Japanese word used to refer to both the bananagators and the sculpture on top of Raindinners is "wani", which means alligator. Unlike Crocodile's name, which is always said in English.
