I’m truly of the opinion that, at least as far as One Piece goes, the only good Marine is a dead Marine. Of course I’m immediately gonna counter that and say “of course there are exceptions”, like Nami’s mama, but the rest of the 99% of them… 🤬’em.

That moment when Nami finally asks for help from Luffy is definitely still one of my fav moment not just in One Piece, but anime overal.

Consider this: Nami still needed seven million beri. Luffy left five million beri with Orange Town. If Luffy had kept that money, and if she had managed to scrounge up another two million - say from Fullbody's ship or from the remains of Krieg's ship - she could have delivered the full sum up front, before Arlong knew that she was close enough.
