“most gundam episode” is right, when they take their usual war is awful stance they REALLY don’t hold back

Today is actually the international day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression… The studio 100% timed this episode for this

spikeseagull

A detail from the Cradle Planet novel that has not been said in the show yet is that Suletta's job on Mercury was search & rescue a job that she has been doing since she was 11

Nytalis

That bump you were talking about has an actual name in Japanese lmao its called "zettai ryouiki" and it means 'absolute territory'. Also, almost lasted a whole episode without crying!

Nate Zabinski

Yyyeah, because One Piece never gets sad...

Thanks for the reaction Alicia :)

And we continue the "Guel loses even when he wins" record. His brother's love was so moving, but now it's in danger to say the least. At least his Derilbalde is gone so he'll HAVE TO use a new mobile suite (cough cough Schwarzette Gundam)

"Everything is going wrong" -- the tagline for every Gundam series

Zettai ryōiki (Japanese: 絶対領域, lit. 'absolute territory') refers to the area of bare skin in the gap between overknee socks and a miniskirt[1] or shorts.[2] It can also be used to describe the clothing combination. The term first became widespread in otaku slang as one of the attributes of moe characters in anime and manga, but it is now used by the general public in Japan. so not necessarily thicc thighs, just the space between socks and skirt/shorts.

This episode was SO tense in large part because almost everyone involved in this conflict was expendable: Guel, Shaddiq, Felsi, Norea, Elan 5... By removing the protagonist from the fight, it made everything feel like it had REAL stakes. While I feel like Kenanji is a bit safe for now (It's gonna be either Prospera or Aerial who take him out. Or maybe Suletta talking Eri out of killing Kenanji will be a major scene. Either way, I don't see him dying to anyone else) pretty much anyone else could have gone. This is also a bit of a healing episode. Chu Chu's reaction to Nika's return was about as positive as it gets. And Suletta's reaction at the end was VERY positive. I like the juxtaposition of her current bloody hands vs last season's bloody hands.

Honestly, you can sum up the history of Universal Century (the first and main Gundam timeline - for anyone who is reading this comment who is new to this) with a sentence “and then it got worse”.

Welcome to Gundam. This is what is usually episode 1 in a Gundam series, where the main character's home is destroyed, and they introduced to the harsh reality of the world they live in. But unlike most Gundam series, it was a Gundam that caused so much damage, and it was the grunt machines defending everyone from the enemy. Chuchu even got a brand-new prototype to take out into battle to fend off the attack. I had a feeling this show was building up to this kind of episode. We have seen the peaceful lives of the main characters and the awful situation of the world that usually leads to conflict, except in other series these are backstory we learn through the show, but here we've learnt it before the conflict begins. It makes the end of that peaceful life so much harder because we're used to it, we love, most, of these characters and want their happy life to continue, but we have crossed the point of no return. I hope you feel better soon. I was watched your One Piece episode and you saying you need happiness made me wince, as I had just watched this episode of Gundam and knew this was coming.

Nytalis

That's exactly what Alicia said and what I'm talking about??

Gundam is so good at portraying the "and then it got worse" emotional torture tactic. There's a reason Gundam's original creator was called "Kill em all" Tomino

NOOOOO! PETRA! NOT AGAIN!

Sulettas was a rescue worker when she stayed at Mercury so her helping out in the end is nothing "new" for her. i doubt that Suletta will face her mother this season. The story slowly goes into a war between the companies, the Space League and Earth. Think season finale will be Suletta and Miorine comiong back together

Geth Who

The formula for writing successful Gundam is to look at the situation on the political, military, and interpersonal levels - and then going 'Now which two of these three can we make worse next?'

Geth Who

Also wow, that text Sully got in class had real Shinji-Ikari-in-school vibes somehow.

Geth Who

Reminded me of that Mr Rogers quote. "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

Sisyphus

THIS season? Brother Suletta's character (if it stays relatively well-written) has absolutely zero reason to get back with Miorine yet. She purposefully manipulated Suletta's feelings, stabbed her in the back, etc.... honestly if she has any self-respect she probably won't get back with her this season at least.
