So much of the setting gets lost apart from the English version. The setting is an alternate future US west coast planned city. The lingo is true to the Cyberpunk setting. Chooms, gonks, cyberware, ice, ripper docs, edge runners, all that. Gloria having a Mexican accent, the ripper having a Jamaican accent. You noticed that those bikers were speaking Japanese. They are from a gang called the Tiger Claws, a japanese gang. In a later episode you heard Wakako, another fixer, talking to David. She is an important character in the game and they actually used the same voice actress as in the game. Having played the game I thought it was so cool to hear that familiar voice.

So it is really the English version of the Anime that matches the setting of both the game and the old roleplaying setting and the way the story really would have happened. That is why I think this version of the anime is so good and why it is unique in being probably the only anime that is best experienced in English.

I agree that the eng dub is so good, in japanese many of the cyberpunk words get lost. For me the design between Lucy and Kiwi was different enough that i seem to have not noticed the similarities. But as you said it...they have a lot of things similar. And as the story on folds that has to be on purpose. Huh...never knew where the therm Fixer came from, and i play the tabletop game. But that explains alot, Fixers are thoese who the the Missions for your Group/Gang. Have you a background in film? Or where did you pick up that knowlage? I like Lucy, but Rebecca is my favorite female character in the show.
