Inferno

The lyrics for the new opening song , Fatale, are in theme with the series with many direct and indirect references and puns when it’s looked into, but I agree that Idol is a perfect opening to represent the series overall with how it more directly plays with idol culture and concepts in the music and lyrics combined. Chainsaw Man is also a recent series with an OP that I think perfectly fits its show too. Looking forward to how this season goes for you!

Alicia, you are right to say that Idol by Yoasobi fits better for the anime than the new OP, and again that's not a knock on the quality of the OP. Rather it's because, like Deadman Wonderland, Idol was written FOR Oshi no Ko. So yeah, that's why you get the same sense that the song is an embodiement of the anime, It was written to be that way and Yoasobi is one of my favorite bands, they really don't miss with Shukufuku from GundamL Witch from Mercury and Idol being my favorites.

While in adaptions you do have to be selective of what you trim, that they would choose to sacrifice those specific aspects that mean so much to Akane is kind of shitty for her. Also, there is a way to keep the character's depth consistent without dragging down or bloating the adaption. The Death Note Musical did this very well because they only really adapted 10ish episodes worth of material rather than all 38 episodes and instead altered the story to fit the new plot line. The story was different but the takes on the characters were really interesting. The Sailor Moon Live action show from like forever ago also did something similar, only adapting the first arc and having a definatieve end there but keeping really strong character arcs.

As a manga reader those end credits are fantastic. I think I liked the tone of S1 end credits more, but the visual story telling of this seasons are fantastic.
