Hi all, I just realized that I didn't post this past weekend's bonus item over the weekend. I had so much going on with a family visit for the New Year holiday that I totally brainfarted—sorry about that! This is a rip of the next-to-last Famimaga Video tape. I'll be finishing that series up soon so that we can move along to weirder and more interesting things. Not that Famimaga Video hasn't been weird and interesting at times, but we can always go deeper...

By the way, I've meaning to mention that someone pointed out to me the fact that YouTube can provide auto-translations if you turn on captions, choose the auto-translate option, and set your target language to English (or whatever). The automated text isn't perfect, but for this series (which is geared at very fairly audiences) it seems pretty effective!

Famimaga Video Issue 11 [May 1990] VHS Rip

As Famimaga Video nears its conclusion, you can really see how the Japanese console market has begun to diversify away from the Famicom dominance that defined the early volumes of this series, with more time than ever given over to Mega Drive and PC Engine titles. (That's Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx-16 for you Westerners.) The primary focus here is on Final Fantasy III and Thunder Force III, but the real prize comes at the end: Launch coverage of the Neo Geo platform direct from the AOU show. 0:39 Contents 1:20 Special Features 1:28 Final Fantasy III 8:08 Thunder Force III 13:06 Titan 13:36 Konami Game Boy teaser 14:06 New Product Intro 14:14 Nekketsu Koukou Dodge Ball-Bu: Soccer-Hen [Nintendo World Cup] 16:37 Fire Emblem 18:55 Last Harmageddon 21:57 Barunba 24:26 Phantasy Star III 26:35 Gargoyle’s Quest 28:39 Eyecatch / Chou Ultra Technique 28:50 Dragon Quest IV blowout 30:30 Chuugoku Janshi Story: Tonpuu 31:13 Tashiro Masashi no Child’s Quest 31:25 Cosmic Epsilon 31:35 Ul-Tech Wonderland 31:39 Cratermaze / Doraemon Meikyuu Daisakusen 32:09 Benkei Gaiden 32:26 Kagami no Kuni no Legend 32:50 Digital Champ 33:11 Bullfight 33:27 Mahjong Gakken 33:33 Fire Emblem promo 34:03 Akuma-kun: Makai no Wana 34:18 SD Gundam SD Sengokuden Kunitori Monogatari 34:51 Special Event Report: Bokutachi Game Center Special 35:00 AOU (Amusement Operators Union) Show: NEO GEO Report 35:51 NAM-1975 36:22 Magician Lord 37:04 Baseball Stars Professional 37:40 Top Players Golf 38:12 Mahjong

Yeah. That's sweet. I also usually use the Google lens to translate the text. It works well enough for me to get the gist of it.
