The next Good Nintentions Gaiden — or rather, the first NES Works Gaiden — episode breaks from the usual set of topics from long ago in favor of a look at two new games. Though they are games for the NES (well, Famicom) hardware, so they count. I think.

Both 8-Bit Music Power and Kira Kira Star Night DX launched last year in Japan and shipped on actual Famicom carts, capable (theoretically) of running on real hardware. I didn't have any luck getting them to work on an Analogue Nt or RetroUSB AVS... and while I did have access to a friend's first-gen (square button!) Famicom for a while, I didn't want to risk the well-being of such a valuable artifact of video game history on carts that apparently use the wrong voltage and can potentially cause damage to hardware. However, both games run just fine on Analogue Nt Mini, so I was finally able to capture them in lovely HD RGB quality for you to enjoy. So please look forward to that episode once I've finished with Skate or Die. And my copy of the third release in the Columbus Circle library should be arriving next week, so I might do that as a Gintendo.

I just have to say I've had no trouble with 8-Bit Music Power on my Famicom. Even in Auatralia using a third party SEGA Master System power cord.

have you interviewed that guy yet? He's a great guy to talk to.

We chatted briefly and informally on the TGS show floor when I demoed Kira Kira. Or I assume it was him, anyway.
