Well, it's done. Or at least, almost done—it's still missing two scans, and we're going to give it one final copy edit pass before publication. (I'll send out a notification once this file is replaced with the final version.) Despite those little quibbles, I'm excited to share this monstrosity with you and let you enjoy the enormous volume that has completely occupied my free time for the past four or five months. NES Works 1987 dwarfs every other project I've produced over the past decade and change, a single book that's even more ponderously huge than Game Boy Works Vol. I (which combined two separate books, Game Boy World 1989 + 1990 Pt. I). It's only a few pages shy of being as long as Virtual Boy Works and Super NES Works 1991 combined. It is, in short, a big'un.

But why shouldn't it be? 1987... what an incredible year for NES. I've tried to do it justice here. Hopefully you'll agree that I succeeded. Anyway, I'm relieved to have this in a near-final form at last, and proud to share it with you.

The print edition of this is probably about four or five months out. But a few minutes before publishing this post, I locked in recipients of the physical version, so if you currently support at a print level, you are guaranteed a copy!

"Print lover" patrons will be receiving the hardcover edition.

"Deluxe book lover," and "Super patrons" backers will be receiving the collector's edition.

And good new, you "Stream spokesperson" die-hards—you'll be getting the paperback edition once it is printed.

The print edition mailings will go out in a far more efficient manner than last year's books! These will ship as soon as they're available. I've also revamped what the collector's edition means and removed the gimmicky add-ons (slipcase, metal carts, etc.) from last year's books. They were wonderful, but those supply chain issues you keep hearing about have caused them to hold up the VBW/SNESW CEs and would have caused the price on this book to end up in the neighborhood of $90-100, which is waaaay too much. It's also going to be a bit more expensive than last year's books thanks to its size and the inflating price of paper, so the CE is going to be a far simpler proposition this time around and will therefore ship with the standard editions.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support, which has made this book's existence possible! Please enjoy the read, please do not share this file with anyone else, and please let me know if you spot any goofs (besides the two missing FDS scans). Please also look forward to a combined edition of NES Works 1985+86 in a few months to accompany this release and (fingers crossed) Segaiden Vol. I by year's end. And finally, look forward to something besides life-consuming book projects for next month's bonus!
