Another GTV release. As always, I highly recommend activating auto-translated subtitles for this one.

GTV continues to be weird, although we do see less and less of Sophie and those strange cave dudes as time goes by. New this issue is a "Mr. X" feature in which a luchador shows off final boss strategies for various games. This issue continues the USA software spotlight, though it's much more interesting this time around. Instead of simply showcasing which Famicom games became popular in the West, it shows off a bunch of Cinemaware titles. Japan had some great-looking PC games on platforms like PC-9801 by this point, but they all had their own distinct style, and I have to imagine Cinemaware's work really stood out at the time!

Enjoy as well some of the other little oddities, like the fact that Karate Champ for Famicom is showcased here as "coming soon" when it had shipped back in 1986 for NES—a rare case of reverse-import delays.

GTV: Game Tech Video Vol. 6 [July 1988] VHS Rip

Another episode of Sony's bizarre video games-centric VHS magazine, Game Tech Video. It continues to be weird, even with a human Sophie in place of the puppet. I love it. Some interesting items this issue, including a retrospective on the original Portopia Rezoku Satusjin Jiken for PC, a glimpse at the weird bad Famicom version of Maniac Mansion, and a big blow-out on USA games that consists entirely of Cinemaware releases. Definitely off the beaten path for Famicom-era publications. 0:24 - Intro with Sophie 1:20 - Game in USA 2 1:29 - The Three Stooges 3:13 - Defender of the Crown 4:55 - Sinbad 7:15 - Mr. X's One-on-One Match!: Rainbow Island 8:13 - Sony commercial feat.
