Today, the comic market operation has issued a statement. Quote the full text. (Because I use Google translation, it is not an accurate translation. Sorry.)

--------------------------

Yesterday (March 14), Comic Market 98 finished sending out notices. Currently, Comic Market 98 (May 2-5, at Tokyo Big Sight) is being prepared for the event.

However, in regards to Comic Market 98, from the perspective of preventing the spread of the new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), future trends regarding the government's request for voluntary control of large-scale events issued on February 26 and March 10, etc. In addition, it may be necessary to judge that it cannot be held as usual, including cancellation or postponement, due to instructions or requests from various related parties.

Comic Market imposes its philosophy on itself as "a place to expand the possibilities of expression aimed at accepting and continuing all creators, mainly doujinshi." . We will continue to make every effort to hold the event as much as possible, and we hope that all participants will understand.

Response to the new coronavirus infection is very fluid. The policy and response for holding the comic market will be announced on the official website in the future. Please check as appropriate.

I myself have no idea whether to participate in Comiket.

However, I am currently making my work as usual. The question is whether to sell it directly at the Comiket event.

Comiket is highly compatible with the conditions of spread of coronavirus infection. That condition is that a lot of people are working in a closed space and contact at close range.

I feel like it would be better to be safe and not attend due to the amount of human foot traffic that goes through Comiket... especially when people are not aware if they are carrying the coronavirus symptoms since it seems like the actual sickness shows up after you have been exposed to it.

Many events like concentions, concerts or sport matches have been canceled around here, so I wouldn't be surprised if Comiket would be cancelled as well, even if it is only last minute.

Hm, that's 7 weeks from now. Hard to predict how good or bad things will be by then. When in doubt, better stay safe.

Personally I suggest staying home and playing it safe!
