Hey guys! It’s becoming increasingly difficult to make posts because I really don’t know what to talk about, so… I just thought about giving a couple of updates regarding the current works:

Mai Shiranui

Mai is almost done. All left to do is make the materials, convert some textures left and add the skin support. Oh shit, I almost forgot, I actually need to port the fan too.

Normally I don’t do those particular porting props, but might as well do it. So the fans are a very interesting item. Basically, in-game, her fan exists in only 3 states: Closed, Half-Open and Open. All 3 of the fans have different vertex count, so a state-flex solution is out of question. Also, the only bones the fan has are in the string that is attached to the fan handle. I’m both relieved and sad that the fan itself is not rigged.

It’s not a complex prop, so I think it will take more time converting the textures than the porting itself.

The Book.

The book is constantly changing. While I’m writing stuff, I tend to add some other, and corroborate if I added other, changed a few requirements here and there… Writing this so far has proven to be a very fun experience.

I can’t really remember, but I think I mentioned the goal of the book is for the user to be able to build a custom model in 14 days. Thanks to a change of schedule I did, right now I’m on Day 10. In case you are curious, in Day 10 we see how to write a QC File and how to extend it.

With everything I have written so far, the book is currently sitting at 138 pages, 87 being of the current days written. Still a bit too short for something of this nature, but it should also be put into consideration that I’m using a Letter size format, and I use margins of Left and Right: 1.50’’ and Top and Bottom: 1’’.

I’m slightly concerned about the screenshots because they will artificially increase the amount of pages, however, I need to add the screenshots. Editing them and adding notes to them is going to be quite a task since I’m doing that last, but I hope it will also be fun.

Anyway, I think that's it, take care guys!

Wash your hands!
