Hey guys, I hope you are doing nice!

So with the idea that remaining silent in the current days is terrible, I decided to post something that I actually forgot to post when I released Lanaya (btw, she’s should be already released)

Basically, a patron actually guessed right before her release. Rules are rules, and just as the rules I myself created, that patron could have a model out of the queue and get her straight as the next model.

That model is KOF XIV’s Mai Shiranui.

So, I wanted to give a couple of updates of Mai, so here they are:

  • I just hate KOF XIV’s face rigs. Angel told me “our rig is trash” and Mai confirmed it. I know models like them are not supposed to be used outside of the game, so the rig doesn’t need to be perfect, but c’mon… the Jaw deform man… the lips deform… I really hate the weights on those models…

  • I offered the choice to go with our regular figure or her figure to have the same SubD treatment than Lanaya. SubD was chosen.

  • I decided to use that model to get some screenshots for the book.

SPEAKING OF THE BOOK.

I want to talk a bit more about the book. There are times where I think I’m adding too much information for something as simple like Model Building, but a friend actually told me that’s not bad, because while I can’t cover every single negative situation, I can give advice in most of the negative situations I had. I still remember my main goal: try to reduce the dependency of googling to the lowest level possible.

So, the book has many chapters, some of them come before the model building begins, and others will come after the model building is done in the form of glossary, techniques, addendum and troubleshooting.

The Model Building section is covered in a 14-day format. Basically, in 14 days you are going to be able to build, flex, prepare, compile, build the textures and the materials. I choose 14 days because some people is actually starting out, I think is for the best to focus on small and short goals instead of big goals. Like yes, if I sit down and focus 100% on it, I can get any model done in almost 6 hours, but the quality will suffer. That’s why I want you to focus on small things, so those small things, are actually done in a way that makes you say “yes, I’m happy with this.

With some chapters wrote from the different sections and currently writing for Day 6, in the current form without any screenshot (those will come later once I think of good formatting) the book is currently sitting at 89 pages. Not bad for almost half a book/not-manual.

So yeah, that’s all for now. Take care guys!
