A Change of Pace (V13 Spoilers) (Patreon)

Technically, I'm not going through the actual story of V13, but I feel like this would be considered a major change, and therefore, I opted into putting a spoiler warning! Anyway...

With Gen 8 coming through, I've decided to polish a few things at the beginning of the game (again). this has more to do with actual progression of story than straight up map updates, though. I got an ask a long time ago that said that the pacing of the game during the first badge is very... not good. Since you put off saving Melia for a Gym battle, and then subsequently, the whole debacle with Karrina (Though that was an intentional thing done by her to save time for Certain People(tm) to arrive.

When I first started Rejuv, I wanted to follow the rule Reborn laid out that was "Episode ends with the Gym Leader". Because of that, I opted to put Venam after everything, even though it doesn't make sense why she would delay saving a friend for a battle.

From the start at Oceana Pier, this is how the game progresses.

[Pier -> Lab -> Sewer -> R1/Goldenwood -> Team Xen attack -> Venam -> Karrina -> R2.]

Now, it follows this route.

[Pier -> Lab -> Sewer -> Venam -> R1/Goldenwood -> Team Xen attack -> Karrina -> R2.]

At least, that's what it will be for now. So far I've finished rearranging up to Venam's battle. Of course, this means that the cap to Venam will no longer be 20, but 15. In the end, I think this will make things flow way better than they did previously.

Last post, I showed of Zumi's official art for Rejuv that she worked on. I didn't want them to just sit there with no purpose, so of course, I decided to give them an in game purpose! Right now I plan on using them for the first battle, and or interaction you have with a character. So, for Venam, that would be during her Gym Battle:

I'm extremely satisfied with how these look. As more official art comes out, I'll show more of these screencaps (Of course, I'll keep some things hidden so you can actually see them in game.)
