These are the settings I use to record videos from Retroquad using OBS Studio - Open Broadcaster Software.

From my experience, these settings gives the best quality for recording YouTube videos. YouTube always re-encodes videos at a lower quality, so by recording our source videos with a near-lossless quality, the final quality from YouTube will be more acceptable.

Be warned that you'll need a lot of disk space. Some of my gameplay videos ended up taking more than 40 gigabytes of disk space. Using a SSD for storage is also recommended.

Also, with these settings the darkest scenes will look a little brighter. This is necessary because YouTube's re-encoding has an extremely bad quality on very dark scenes. But feel free to adjust any of these settings to your liking. 🙂
