Hello, this is a public post to clarify how the Retroquad Patreon works. These rules were designed during our experience here to make things smooth for everyone.

😃 If you want your name to be customized in the credits, please send me a message telling me what you want to be credited as.

All patrons receives at least one new release every month (public releases also counts towards this).

• I always release the new private versions as soon as they're ready. So, while there are periods where no new version is released for weeks, there are also periods when several new versions are released in a short timespan.
• In the anomalous situation that no new releases are done within an entire month, new patrons will receive the latest private version released for their tier as soon as their payment was cleared.
• All releases, both public and private, are Windows only. I'm not porting Retroquad to other platforms yet, because mantaining work-in-progress builds accross multiple platforms would be more time consuming than I can afford to and I don't have access to OSX and Linux machines. Once all essential features are complete and I release an indie game using it, the engine will be mature enough for me to port it to other platforms without having to constantly update it.

Public releases are made for general public consumption, containing all of the Retroquad-specific required content fully configured to make its usage as simple as possible.

• There is no fixed schedule for new public releases. They are planned when the last public release gets seriously outdated in comparison to the latest private release, and they're done when the latest private release is stable and its new features are complete enough.
• The "Public" tag in Patreon shows all public releases done in Patreon. Version 0.1.0 was released before the Patreon page was launched, and can be found on ModDB.

Private releases contains only the updated engine, and the new or updated content that was made since the last public release, as well as anything else specific to each tier.

• While the public releases have large filesizes, the filesizes of the private releases are small.
• Private releases should be installed over the public releases indicated in their documentation; otherwise, the engine would have to recompile all of the required content again, which takes many hours.
• Engine coding will always be prioritized, but specific tier bonuses may not be delivered while Retroquad's Patreon income stays below the minimum monthly amount of US$450. The current income can be seen in the public landing page.

All patrons needs a Google Drive account to receive the private releases. Releases are shared with Retroquad's patrons through Google Drive, and the source code is included. If the e-mail address of your Patreon account does not have Google Drive access, you can message me your Google Drive e-mail address.

• You'll find the releases in the "shared with me" section of Google Drive: drive.google.com/drive/shared-with-me
• If you have multiple Google accounts, when acessing Google Drive you need to switch to the Google account where the releases are being shared with you.
• This video also explains the different methods to find the files that were shared with you: How to Find Shared Docs, Files and Folders in Google Drive.

Retroquad's releases are done this way because it allows for greater distribution flexibility while still being fully compliant with the GPL:

• Each patron receives the private versions released during their patronage period, which means that the earlier you join and the longer you remain, the more versions you get.
• Ex-patrons still have access to the versions that they got during their patronage period.

New patrons will only be credited and will only start getting the releases after their first payment is cleared. When that happens, you will also get the versions that were released since the day when you joined.

• Feel free to switch your tier and edit your payment amount anytime to suit your needs.
• Patreon charges patrons from before November 2022 on the day 1 of the month, according to the Monthly (non-charge upfront) schedule.
• Patrons who joined since November 2022 are charged according to the Subscription Billing schedule.
• If you have any payment issues, you can message me about what happened so we can try to sort things out. New releases are put on hold for patrons with failed billing, but once things are sorted you will receive the pending releases as soon as I see it.

😊 Thank you all for your support.
