I'm thinking about possibly making another public release of Retroquad for Christmas, but since I want to be fair to all patrons, I'm asking first.

I don't know if this would help to make more people interested in this engine, but the current version is significantly better and more stable than the 0.6.6 release. I've also got some better assets to play Quake with it, including a few models from the Quake remaster converted back to MDL with their muzzleflashes fixed.

Making a public release later would take significantly more time, since the texture file format is going to be changed next year to accomodate more features such as HD texture support for the J.A.C.K map editor, and recompiling all textures takes several days. Other future features such as multicore rendering and rewriting the GUI for HD texture support should also take some significant time to get working properly.

What do you think?

I think Retroquad is an awesome project. I would venture other patrons agree and are probably most interested in helping Retroquad succeed... and not limiting "public" releases. It would seem better in terms of development to have a GitHub repo with issues, branches, contributors, and pull requests. At least to me, this would be far more valuable than a google drive snapshot, Cheers and Merry Christmas :)

Agreed, I would patron this regardless if it was on GitHub. A proper source tracking solution would be great.
