I wish I could join the celebrations today with a new public release of Retroquad, but the current version isn't good enough for that.

To begin with, Quake purists would usually prefer to play using internal textures instead of upscaled or HD textures, and Retroquad doesn't support non power-of-2 textures, so there would be a weird mix of internal textures and upscaled textures mixed together. Playing in "internal textures" mode also disables dithering on particles, and the non-dithered particles are extremely glitchy now.

Retroquad's content packs for Quake are also outdated, and I don't have the time right now to update them. I spend almost all of my free time working on the engine code instead, which has a much higher priority.

In a couple hours I'll be going to my job again. This map shows the route I take with my bicycle, it leaves me exhausted and in pain so I am not able to work much in Quake stuff during the week. On the upside, the long bike rides gives me plenty of time to think about how to solve some programming tasks; the FWQ Quadricolor algorithm was conceived in my mind years ago during some of those rides.

Anyway, happy birthday to Quake, and happy celebration to everyone. I'll keep focusing in putting Retroquad in a more usable state, so a public release may happen later this year.
