The following "interview" was actually just some facebook messaging between me and DreamTR

The first part is my 1st part is 5 questions sent over to Jason and the 2nd part is the unedited chat between me and Jason on facebook which I wanted to include.

Enjoy :)

Q1, You was able to get hold of 7 off what is possibly the rarest and most sought after video games in existence, How did you come up with the idea?

A1. A friend of mine, who also my former boss at Tips & Tricks Magazine, Chris Bieniiek suggested it after we were brainstorming what to do after I lost a Google Newsgroup auction to thomaser for a peeled label version of the gray NWC. We knew about gold ones even though I wanted a gray, but definitely saw the value of them skyrocketing in the future if they were able to be obtained from the winners who Chris figured were all in college at that point (1999-2000).

Q2, I understand you do not want to say how much you paid or sold the 6 cartridges for, but would you be willing to give a ballpark on the lowest and highest you spent?

A2, With the original gold NWC lot of 7 the cheapest was $50 and the most expensive was $1877, which was an eBay auction.

Q3, I assume you contacted the winners and runners up by phone and/or post. What did you say to them from the get go?

A3, Yes, I tried vehemently to locate them, basically told them I was interested in their cartridge, if they had it would they sell it, offered them money, the person I got it from for $50 called me and gave me that offer since I had been asking about it from him when he found it for months.

Q4, You got the names of the contestants from a Nintendo Power magazine right? What was your next step towards tracking them down??

A4, A lot of Yahoo/Google searching. Phone numbers were easier to find back then because not everyone had a cell phone. It's much more difficult to find numbers for people, but easier now to locate a person because of social media (if I was to look today).

Q5, Do you now own a complete Nes set? do you collect for any other consoles or computers?

A5, I have owned a CIB NES set for many years. I collect for other various systems and have CIB collections of many North American sets and numerous Japanese games. I am at over 18,000 different unique releases for all systems and also own a little over 500 arcade and pinball machines.
