Iconic, indeed. Man I had forgotten how much I loved that scene at the church. As for Jet, he was tending to his bonsai trees but he was obviously distracted. I agree with Taymour's read, he was thinking about Spike and their relationship (and probably his own past being "too gung-ho", as he put it). When Faye called about Spike, Jet saw the broken branch he had just cut, and angrily realized that he was no use doing other things until he made peace with himself by helping Spike. His raw emotion, portrayed only by his facial expression on that exquisitely-paced freeze-frame and that final "damn it!", is incredible. I /felt/ that scene.
