So, following on from the last post I've decided to change up the Patreon structure a bit.

I was originally going to dive into the spreadsheets of data I get from Patreon and lay out how fewer, larger payments are more efficient than many smaller payments (the processing fee for charges at or under £3/$3 is slightly higher).

I was considering changing the model around: switching from per creation billing to a monthly subscription and bumping the Pixeltruppen tier from £1 to £2. That way, assuming I was still producing 2 videos a month, you guys would be paying the same amount of money but more of it would actually reach me.

I'm not going to do that.

In practical terms, it looks like a bit of a pain. The options for altering tiers people are already subscribed to are limited (essentially freeze or delete) and switching from Patreon's per creation model to monthly subscriptions is a one-way change that I need to contact Patreon about.

But more than that, it would reduce the options you guys have available. That's not something I want, I want to give you more choice.

So expect another tier to pop into existence, probably with a bonus linked to choosing what blows up what in the shorts.

At the same time, I want to explore how viable video-making is as a revenue stream. For now, I have plenty of time on my hands and have managed to increase video production: going from churning one out every fortnight to making one a week, plus two or more shorts.

This kind of excess production is exactly the kind of thing I would normally squirrel away as a reserve for when production is more difficult (and in all honesty, I don't know how sustainable this new rate is). But it seems like a good opportunity to take a crack at weekly releases and see what happens.

Obviously, because I'm sticking to a per video model here on Patreon, that will result in more charges for you guys so don't forget you can limit how much you pay per month.

There are other things I'd like to explore too- Patreon voting for Basics and Unit Guide topics and/or something like Drachinifel's Drydock videos, answering Patreon questions, for example.

TLDR then: there's a new tier coming up and I want to release more videos, faster.

So the new tier would still be per creation?

Yes. Patreon doesn't have an option to mix per creation and monthly options in the same channel (which would be really helpful).

On the flip side as a customer, I find a lot of value with your videos. Whatever you need to keep this going is what I'm willing to support.
