Have you seen Gettin' Learnt with Ricky on Swearnet? So fucking funny. Geordie: You can pretty much ignore this comment for now - and it is spoiler free. It's just some of the large amount of side material, but you are at a point in the show before they started releasing stuff like that. They also have an in-character podcast.

Yeah, in reality Trina shouldn't be buying a grown man who is wasting the (usually) little money he gets over the years, or 're-investing' it, but never buys himself a new set of clothes the whole time. In reality, that little girl isn't responsible for a grown man who willingly puts himself into situations, or bailing him out or giving her own to give to him (but he isn't like a sick old man, he is making these choices, if this was a chronic thing it would be enabling). BUT, Lahey got upset at and punished her because it was Ricky, and ignored the what and the why. On a subjective level, what Trina did was beautiful, and pure, and innocent, and non-judgmental all at once. In an ideal world, Lahey would recognize and praise that, and maybe have a little talk with her about those people's own responsibilities and stuff. She would also be less likely to 'rebel' if he was a good enough father figure. And in an ideal world, Ricky would use a little girl of his 'enemy' getting money together to buy him that stuff after hearing that, as a motivator and inspiration to re-focus his priorities and fully commit to getting his shit together.
