I love your reaction, and two at once today is the best treat ever! And I was delighted that you got such a laugh from the little dig at British TV schedules. We in the US who love your TV are used to the difference -- 6 episodes in a year, and then maybe years pass before the next season (or "series" as you call it there) -- but it can be disappointing when I find a UK series I love, and then there are so few episodes. For instance, Fawlty Towers is a classic, in contention for my favorite sitcom ever, yet there are only 12 episodes total. (As I understand it, one difference is that in the UK, contracts are signed for only a year at a time, so it all has to be renegotiated if a second season happens, and that takes time if everyone found other jobs. In the US, everyone signs on for multiple years [often 5] initially.) And lest we forget: #jasnet forever!

British TV shows do 6 episodes and then wait 4 years to do 6 more? I didn't realize The Venture Brothers was a British show. But seriously, I love that British sitcoms know when to call it quits. Ricky Gervais made The Office short and concise; it did what he intended for it to do, and then bowed out. Whereas the American Office just would. Not. Die.

I totally agree quality over quantity, but I do admit you do end up with some shows only having like 2 episodes in a series (or season for Americans.) *cough* Luther*cough* or season 5 of the IT Crowd.
