One of the other changes that came with season 2 was Kaitlin Olsen (Dee) insisted her character be more involved in the schemes and the like. If you remember with season 1 she was less involved in the shadiness and seemed kind of above all that. Also to answer your question about Frank's money, he is quite loaded. As enjoyable as season one was, this show really got better with season two, the addition of Frank is great.

Going back and watching this from the beginning, I notice that the characters were so well-developed from the very beginning. It's like most of the work was already done once the characters were made, and the plot of each episode just flows naturally from who these people are. That's good writing, if you ask me.

I feel like Mac and Charlie *might* have been decent people in another life if things had gone differently, and Frank isn't malicious, just oblivious to everyone but himself, but Dennis and Dee are just plain evil.
