Gravity Falls is a great show! Can't wait until you start getting into the more plot heavy stuff. Also, for a show recommendation - Close Enough on HBO Max. Just came out a few weeks back, and it's fantastic. Plus it's only 8 episodes, so you can work your way through the whole thing pretty quickly.

Pretty sure the pain hole is a reference to the box in Dune that Paul Attraides had to stick his hand into, in the movie it's real famous for him saying the "fear is the mindkiller" speech. Also if you wanna check out an interesting new anime series, you should check out Tower of God. Part of the reason I like seeing people react to it, is there is a part that pretty much every reactor has the same reaction to. It's also interesting because unlike most anime it doesn't come from a manga but actually from a Korean web comic. It's only got the first season out for now, it's 13 episodes and really kinda just sets the stage for the series. Also speaking of Ed O'Neil who plays Jay in Modern Family, he's a pretty interesting guy, dude is a black belt in Brazilian Juijitsu who has actually trained with the Gracie family, the masters of it.

One thing I do like about these Disney cartoons is they slip in some references to stuff kids aren't gonna know, I mean a reference to Dune, a movie from my childhood and a book series of high concept sci fi in this and then in one of the episodes of Duck Tales they make a reference to the Evil Dead movies by having the Necronomicon and zombies for a minute or two.
