All I could think through this whole ep was how the writers of The Office would often intentionally pair up characters who don't normally spend much time together, just to see what shenanigans would unfold. Rodney & Ronon together in this chaos is a perfect example of how two totally different characters can together to make A+ quality content. Also Mackay is the goat I find him far too relatable. 😂

failwhale34

the other two will be up in the next hour or so, audio issues on episode 3 but working on fixing them! LMK what you think of these :) S3 Baby!!

The only thing more satisfying than a triple bubble is seeing parts 2 and 3 go up right as I finish part 1

Lady Beyond The Wall

Hah! Right? I was hesitating starting the 1st because I wanted to watch the others right after and didn't know if they'd take longer than watching the episode, but I was too excited and watched anyway, only to refresh right after I finished to see the others. 💕🥰

Lady Beyond The Wall

I never really noticed it before for some reason, but yeah, the score for these last few episodes was just so good. Some of it was just.. beautiful. Especially some of the music during Michael's scenes and some of the more dramatic ship scenes. I'm assuming a lot of people do, but jeez, I feel bad for Michael, lol. Like, if you'll never trust them to be actually human anyway then at that point they may as well be food, and they're still humans, so everyone still trying to take the high road with that would be enough to piss me off if I were in Michael's shoes too. And no matter their intentions, they just completely psychologically messed Michael up and he's not even accepted among his own kind. That whole story is sad. I'm glad they give scenes around that topic a more melancholy score.

Does it make sense to watch SG1 again, but with failwhale ? I watched the whole series, but about 8 years ago. I always liked Atlantis more, but today's three episodes I watched within 2 hours of their release. What to do now?

MisturSmith

I have watched sg1 probably over a dozen times and I have absolutely loved watching it again along with him. It’s definitely worth a go.

Ba'alWhale34

Yeah his sg1 journey is hilarious because he watched farscape at the same time. So his Brian gets melted later with the cast update

Lady Beyond The Wall

Of course, that's the whole reason he has the reaction videos! Most of us watching them have seen it before, lol. You have soooo much to binge watch, I'm jealous I can't watch his reactions to it all for the first time again. Although I won't lie, I've rewatched a few of his reactions to a few of my favorite episodes again. Just because.

Scarlett Monrow

Some day, hopefully in the near future, we will have full immersion VR and there will be "episodes" of SGA where you join the team on an adventure. I would really like to play an SGA episode with you, as a team!

Scarlett Monrow

I watched SG-1 several times and found re-watching with his reaction to be great, like a first time experience for me too. So, yes, definitely rewatch, at least favorite episodes.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I randomly went back to his Meridian reaction a few months back. He was so defeated by that episode. Still, I wouldn't trade following along the reaction journey over the past couple years to watch them for the first time again. It's just not the same when the videos are months/years old and nobody is in the comments or thinking about that reaction anymore. Being there when they drop is best.

Timothy Nikiforovs

This 3 parter definitely stirs up some mixed reactions, and I think it's just because of how, I guess messy is the word, this whole retrovirus plot is. The space battles are quite a standout, especially the battle of the void. To be honest though, they could be using transporters more tactically. Even if they can't beam a nuke into a wraith ship, they should be able to beam the missiles near to them which would give the hives much less time to shoot them down, or even use transporters to deploy and retrieve 302s. As annoying as the IOA can be, it's actually fair to be questioning Weir. The SGC and Earth have enough problems with the Ori. The wraith are supposed to be confined to the Pegasus galaxy, and we can't afford to open a second front. The whole debacle with Michael and the slip ups that led to Earth's location and the hyperdrive modifications being leaked very nearly brought that threat to Earth. Still, Woolsey does stand out in this episode as his character continues to evolve into someone far more likeable than when he first appeared. Now for the less desirable story element, that of the Atlantis Expedition's many war crimes. As discussed early on with the ATA gene therapy, a lot of Earth's laws simply don't apply out there, at least on paper, but there are some serious moral reservations with the path they took. Aside from the fact that it flies in the face of reality that Beckett could develop this retrovirus and the Ancients couldn't(we were discussing on the discord how it should have been an ancient project he found and used as a basis for his work), they already saw how badly this went with just 1 person, and now they're trying it with 200. Aside from it still being a biological weapon, it might not be so bad if it were a permanent change. They are at war after all. I wouldn't even care much about the ones who were killed by other wraith as the crew changed. When it was done, even if they still had their memories, they wouldn't be able to operate the hives, and would have no reason to cull humans. They'd just have to accept that they were now human as well. Even if they were shunned by the rest of the human populations, within 100 years the last of the transformed wraith would be dead and only their children would remain. So yes it's a viable option to remove the wraith as a threat while allowing at least some of them to live. But lying to them, giving them constant injections, isolating them from everyone. It was just never going to work, and if that's all the life you allow them, better to just kill them. The memory loss actually creates the biggest moral dilemma, because if they remembered at least you could argue they were still wraith in terms of identity, but like Michael said, without their memories, are they even the same people? If they remembered being wraith, at least you could say "we could have killed you, this way you get to live". As is they just become blank slates with no idea why they're being experimented on. Also while they had legitimate security concerns about Michael leaving with the knowledge he possessed, and while he had betrayed them before, they really did the guy dirty here. He might have had his own reasons for helping them, namely his own survival, but he was true to his word. There was also another option. The Galaran memory device from Collateral Damage could have been brought to Atlantis on the Asgard ship, and they could have offered to free Michael in return for helping them, but only if he allowed them to remove knowledge of Earth and Atlantis' locations, as well as the modified hyperdrive. That would be a fair trade IMO. A permanent retrovirus with no memory loss I wouldn't have a problem with so much. Even giving it to the wraith to use on their rivals, well it would just be wraith getting a taste of their own medicine, and less innocent humans being fed on. Interesting and action packed episodes, but yeah, they're pretty messy.

Brent Justice

What can I say that hasn't been said already? I never did like the idea to revert the Wraith, I never felt it would truly work, and it's a bit weird to genetically modify an entire species without their permission, I mean who do we think we are that we can do that to an entire species against their will? Would you like it if some alien species came to Earth and just sent out a gas that changed everyone into a new species? Yeah, what arrogance, honestly it should be considered genocide. On a technical side, we learned that the Wraith got a tech boost, their FTL is faster now, though is it all the Wraith or just these few hive ships? I dunno. Still would take them a long time to get to Earth though, a month or little less? It takes the Daedalus 3 weeks. BTW, they did mention an Asgard ship would shave 2 weeks off the journey, so 1 week for an Asgard ship it seems, I think Pegasus is supposed to be farther away from the Milky way than the Ida galaxy the Asgard come from. I have always loved the shot and idea of sitting between two galaxies, out in the void of space where there are no stars. Imagine seeing a full galaxy on one side and another on the other, that's something we haven't even seen in Star Trek, intergalactic travel is not yet a common thing in Star Trek, yet they can do it so easily with Hperdrive in Stargate, it's much faster than Warp.

Timothy Nikiforovs

Ida is further away I believe, and we've seen Asgard ships cover that distance in I think a few hours. They're crazy fast. As for the retrovirus, I think given the wraith treat humans like cattle we have every right to use it. Even if you argue they need to feed on humans to survive, then the same applies to us. The only way to stop humans being fed on is to kill or convert all wraith. I think the moral dilemma comes from how they were treating the now humans who didn't remember being wraith and were essentially new people. I'd honestly have zero problems with wiping out the wraith entirely. They only exist because of a mutation, and can only live by killing us, so they're basically like vampires.

Brent Justice

What if all the cows got together and decided that the entire hjman species needs to be genetically changed because we eat them, so they get together, and just do it without our knowledge?

Anonymous

This would be the dream. There is a cool 304 mod for BattleGroupVR which is fun.

Timothy Nikiforovs

If they're smart enough to pull that off, that'd be their right. That's survival of the fittest. There's a reason we generally veer away from eating animals like primates and whales with higher intelligence. Not to mention there are plenty of vegetarians/vegans already. Besides the wraith contribute nothing to the galaxy. The eat, hibernate, rinse and repeat. The only thing more destructive are the replicators. If cows could talk to us and communicate and think on our level, almost everyone but a few psychos would stop eating them tomorrow. The wraith may not have that choice, but the retrovirus gives them such a choice. If they choose to reject it, and therefore choose a path that requires them to murder to survive, then they deserve zero sympathy. If the wraith wanna keep being wraith, fine, but not one single human owes them their life as sustenance. Best bet would be if they could make the hoffan drug safe. Then it's their choice. Take the retrovirus or starve.

brad hawkes

Don’t you love the Big P, casual human experimentation? sure why not! who’s Geneva??

brad hawkes

Exterminate the wraith, but treat the humans far better, always felt really bad for Michael. Should tell them the truth. But make it damn well permanent first, suurree here’s 800,000 vials for the next 3 years, I know weve lied to you and dumped you on some shit hole dark cold scary planet with a weird camera lense but I’m sure you’ll all keep taking it, right guys? .. guys?

Lady Beyond The Wall

I can't even explain how excited I am for this week's SG-1 episodes! I mean, I'm usually excited, but this week I'm like.. extra excited. 🙃 I keep wanting to hop on to steam and play something, but.. maybe sg-1 will pop up! I think I'm going to anyway.. so I'll be surprised later today or tomorrow.

McKay: We couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Shepard: What are you talking about... Hive ships are a hundred times the size of a ... McKay: A GIANT FLYING BARN.... we couldn't hit that... Is some of favorite dialogue from these shows :D I love sg-1, but sg-a hit 10/10 on snarky'ness.
