Thanks for the reaction. A fun little trivia fact, this is the first time in a TV show that the term or phrase of "Googling" was ever used. While Google was a known search engine, it wasn't one of the tops, it was just competitive with others at the time. This is the first time the actual phrase "Googling" someone was used and made it a verb, an action word to "use google to search for something." It kind of made the term googling mainstream. Cassie was a great character, very charismatic, and had personality. The actress Azura Skye did an amazing job. I could see Cassie being part of the scooby gang if she had not died. She has a soft mannerism about her that is appealing. Though we did not get an answer as to her powers, I think, it seems to me, she's known about this a long time, maybe her whole life? It's a shame we didn't get a bigger back story on her. I think, and correct me if I'm mistaken, this is the first time Buffy herself has said the phrase: "Buffy the vampire slayer" referring to herself. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer would knock this door down" and then Xander quips, what would Buffy the Counselor do lol. But I think this is the first time she's literally referred to herself as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, not others saying it, but HER saying it. I really liked Dawn in this episode as well, she's maturing as a true paranormal detective, one of the scoobies, taking on bigger roles now, going out on patrols with Buffy, and playing detective. She's no longer annoying like she was when she first appeared. I also like the slow integration of Willow back into the fold, it shouldn't be instant, it should take time, and I'm glad they are padding that out.

There was one previous instance I can think of. In Anne, she said "I'm Buffy, the vampire slayer. And you are?". That might have been the only other one. And yeah, Willow having to explain the term "googled" pretty heavily dates this episode.

Despite being very much a standalone episode, it's arguably one of the more tragic episodes of the series. Cassie was a sweet kid, and it really must have hurt for Buffy to do everything in her power to save her and she still dies to a heart attack. In a way, it likely brought her back to Joyce's death, as in both cases the death was due to plain old human frailty. I do wish that they had included one more scene though, namely at the end I wish they'd had the one guy whose brother was joining the marines come back and tell Buffy he decided to talk to him. It's rough enough that a student died in her first week on the job, not to mention several others attempting a human sacrifice. I feel like that could have been at least something she could put in the win column. I do love how she kept referring to herself in the 3rd person talking to Dawn though.
