"You think you know, what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun." This is the same exact line Tara said to Buffy in Buffy's dream in "Restless"...

I have been waiting for this, watching now.

Thanks for the reaction, I love the fact that Buffy is now serious about learning about the history of the slayer, and what her potential is. Took her long enough, but I'm glad she got there finally. See, if I had such a thing, I'd want to know everything about it personally. So I look forward to Giles becoming her watcher again, and to see where that leads. I want to say more things, but do not want to give away any possible spoilers, even by accident. So I'll reserve any comments, and I won't even say about what I'm talking about lol, I'll just be this vague for right now. I look forward to your next episode reaction. Your ending confusion was fun to watch.

Joyce: Buffy, why don't you take your sister? Faily: What? Wait, what? Am I having a brain fart or something? Show writers: Nope. Faily: Here we go. She's down and out already. The makings for a great season of Buffy. Yoda: Already know that what you need. A Buffy Jedi you have become.

I love to watch this episode with reactors.

Chris

I love the Giles/Buffy moments

What? You don't remember Buffy's sister? She's been there since season 1. Right??

Bixgirl1

Lmaooo SO many reactors forget Buffy's sister bc they hardly give her any scenes, I'm screaming; I was sure *you* would've remembered her! 😂🤣 You even got all choked up over that scene in s2 w her if I recall right lol

Bixgirl1

Oh yeah, def, s1. Underutilized character imho. Total shame.

“Buffy, why don’t you take your sister?” “Mom!!!” And here we go. This, for me, is when the comments section becomes as entertaining as the show and the reaction.

Yeah, Buffy's sister. She didn't want to leave her old school so she stayed with their dad when Buffy moved to Sunnydale, it was a whole thing........wasn't it🤔. Anyhow, I love how much fun they had with this concept. Xander is hilarious under Dracula's thrall, and then there's Giles starting to wonder if vampires are really that bad. Always loved "I'm standing right here" and the mist has second thoughts. Come on though, Giles leaving was clearly just interpersonal drama to draw us into the start of a new season. Watcher or not he's still a key member of the cast, but it's nice for him to have some direction and feel needed again. On the surface it would seem Dracula is pretty much invulnerable. If there's a way to put him down for good it'll probably lie with Willow and Tara counteracting his powers. Still, as vampires go, and despite his fame, he doesn't come across as a particularly dangerous vampire in the big picture sense. He's clearly the type to obsess over the romanticism of immortality and being a creature of the night. He's not The Master or Angelus trying to end the world(or turn humans into livestock like in the wishverse). He simply doesn't have the modus operandi of a big bad. He's not even chaotic evil like Spike who was always happy to settle for a little localized carnage. He's still a killer, but in a larger sense he simply doesn't leave a huge amount of damage in his wake, so as unkillable vampires go, he's not the worst type to have around.

This episode makes me feel sorry for Giles in a way. Like he said, he hasn’t had much to do in the last season and half more or less. He started to build a potential future for himself with Olivia. Drawing off of the season 4 finale, in Giles’ dream he’s at a carnival with Buffy and Olivia and Olivia is pushing around an empty stroller. The next scene with Spike, she’s crying over the empty stroller while Spike tells him he needs to make up his mind and asks why Giles is wasting time. Without his responsibilities to/ with Buffy, he might have had a chance at a normal life as an actual father and right when he’s about to go get his life started, he’s sucked back in. I’m glad he gets to be useful to the gang again, but a part of me is always a bit sad for the life he could have had. Anyway, great reaction!

I think Giles wanted Buffy to want to need him, in the past season, she didn't. Now, I think Giles is absolutely happy she came to him and wants this, it's the best outcome he could have wanted IMO.
