📢⚠️🚨 LORE EPISODE

They did show his face, just sayin.

SG1 tends to do their big season finales at the start of the season (episodes 1 and 2) vs last episode of the season.

thank youuuuuuu <3

Michael Shanks voices Thor, so he was still technically in this episode

So I don't believe this is particularly 'spoilery', but I'll remain vague regardless. 'Revelations' is the first of several season finales that was potentially going to be a SERIES finale. After Season 5, the show moved from Showtime to another network, and it being picked up for more seasons was somewhat uncertain. Admittedly, considering the episode's contents, it would make for a very strange, underwhelming, and unsatisfying series finale, but nonetheless, 'the more you know.'

season 6 has so many important and amazing episodes

👀 and they call me the bad guy.

I admit I don't always read comments, but my impression has been that we haven't had many issues with spoilers before, yes? Dunno what's going on lately.

Interesting comment about Anubis's face. When I watched this episode for the first time I always assumed that did show us his face, and that was it, whatever it was. You wouldn't believe how many theories were posted on forums as to what it was :p

Lady Beyond The Wall

I think (hope) this specific person, in this episodes comments, is watching for the first time here, that's what I've gotten so far from their comments, but yeah they need to not be predicting anything. It could unintentionally spoil things. For Faily and him.

Here we go, season six! Despite the big changes I think you'll be very happy with the season. A lot of good stuff coming up. I certainly did interpret that as Daniel at the end, maybe checking in on them, or saying good-bye to Jack who seemed to get the message. Heimdall has to be the cutest asgard. He's so cheerful and derpy.

Time for my favorite season next.

Alright, now that the finale is up, it's a good point to recap the season, and in retrospect, as good as S5 was, there are a lot more checkmarks in the L column than the W column. Sure there are smaller victories like saving "Lt. Tyler" and the K'Tau, but in terms of major developments the good guys took a beating in S5. So for victories, Apophis was defeated. The Aschen plot to control/destroy Earth was derailed and they're probably looking at their stargate right now and thinking "that sucks". And Anubis attempt to destroy Earth with the asteroid was thwarted. That's about it. For losses, we've gotten hit HARD. First the tollan were apparently wiped out, which is a major loss. After that the tok'ra were decimated, with several of the recurring tok'ra like Aldwin, Ren'al and Lantash being killed, as well as the short lived Lt Elliot. And third the jaffa rebellion finally seemed to be getting on it's feet only to be scattered again. And to top off all this we lose Daniel Jackson. Massive losses, and all before even an introduction, let alone a proper showdown with Anubis. And now Thor is in a coma and the Asgard as a whole have been humbled by the tech Anubis is bringing to the game. We are not in a good spot right now. I suppose the ending of the episode at least leaves us with hope on the replicator front, and at least the asgard aren't totally helpless like the tollan. regarding the characters, while I think O'Neill dealt best with Daniel's impending death in Meridian, he's clearly not dealing with him being gone very well at all. He's hiding in his work and dragging Sam and Teal'c along with him. Ever since you mentioned there not being enough Teal'c and Sam moments, I've been thinking of the scene in the cargo ship. Teal'c is putting up a brave face, and I'm sure on some level he envies Daniel's achievement, as well as takes comfort in the fact that he's isn't actually dead, but underneath that, he misses his friend just as much as Sam does. O'Neill obviously does too, after all he knew him longer than the rest of them, but despite or perhaps because of that(and perhaps because of the burden of command), he's turning inward instead of talking about it. I also especially liked the scene where Hammond was talking about his friend from Vietnam. Don always gives a fantastic performance in those scenes and it's one of the reasons Hammond comes across as such a great leader. He cares about the wellbeing of everyone under his command. Don's own military service no doubt served him well in playing Hammond. Also yes, Heimdall is voiced by Fraiser's actress (Teryl Rothery), and I fuckin love how upbeat he is. Pretty big lore dump regarding the Asgard and their history here as well. That they're all clones is a big reveal. I love that look Heimdall shot at O'Neill when he said "that explains a few things". I think we all knew Anubis wasn't your typical system lord from a while by this point, but when he turns around and there's just this oil slick where his face should be, you really start to wonder what's up with him, and where he got all this tech in the 1000 years he's been away. Also he's voiced by the same actor who played Sokar. I agree it's an odd finale. Just kind of fizzles out toward the end. In fact O'Neill saying "that's it?" was a little bit of a 4th wall break, since up till now each season had ended in a big cliffhanger. As others have pointed out, this was SG1's last ep on Showtime before moving to sci-fi. I'd suggest starting S6 with a double bubble.

Thus ends the Showtime era, from now on SG1 and the other shows are aired on the SciFi channel.

I like the continued grief on this episode, how its back to business but they're still showing the impact to the characters which often times doesn't happen in shows. For Teal'c we see subtle emotional breaks which CJ does so well. Seeing your comrade die is nothing new to Teal'c but this SG1 team has come to mean so much more to him and I like how we see that displayed in these small displays of emotion. Sam has the answer for everything and this is a time where she is lost for answers. Its a struggle for her and, I think, growing up in a household which struggled after her mother's death, this is something that leaves Sam searching for answers/comfort. I also like how Sam is very professional, she rarely disobeys orders as she understands her position and military chain of command, however, I like her frustration at O'Neill in this episode. Jack is the leader, he knows his role well. He has also dealt with death, many before we got to know him, but this is something different. Jack and Daniel started this Stargate journey together, as annoying as he sometimes found him, it would be hard not to get close to someone in that time but he can't let that in.

The commentary by others is pretty thorough, so I'd like to mention something out of world that I always hated about this episode - the Asgard and their genetic issues. As someone who studied biology I'd like to say the 'explanation' they give is utter nonsense and that I was always so disappointed in the showrunners for not bothering to pay a biology undergraduate for a 1 hour consultation to come up with a plausible reason for the Asgard to be on the decline. This was very lazy writing and I think the Asgard and the audience deserved better.
