Stop spoiling shit in the comment section all the time. If what you want to say involves anything past the current episode, just shut your mouth. ty

Teth

One of my least favourite episodes of the entire series, but there's a lot of good coming up, including s6 which is great!

Lady Beyond The Wall

One of my least favorites I'd say, but having skipped it my last few rewatches, I'll say I appreciated it a bit more this time for some reason. Maybe just sharing it with Faily and you guys 🤷‍♀️ Wasn't quite as bad as I'd remembered. Very excited for the end of the season next week and the start of S6, which contains quite a few of my favorite episodes, the week after!

Skebaba

I assume the Sentinel mind-scans ppl to determine enemies vs allies, yea? Prolly a bunch of parameters, like "is he planning to merc Whitelisted entities?", primarily, prolly more specific parameters too

Lady Beyond The Wall

Might be up to the Human element of the Sentinel. Like, maybe the caretaker's thoughts have something to do with it? And vice versa, like you said. Maybe it scans the Caretaker to make sure it's not going to slaughter the whole planet?

Lady Beyond The Wall

Also, I just realized, I wonder if the Caretaker they shot wanted to touch the Sentinel before he died so he could get rid of the team trying to figure out how it works? Maybe that was obvious though and I only just now realized it lol

This is a pretty solid episode of S5, the whole Dirty Dozen sub-plot with Grieves & Kershaw and trying to fix the damage to the Sentinel with Jackson & Carter.

Teal'c holding off a platoon of Jaffa while O'Neill and Grogan, reappearance of the rookie squad try and find a alternative way to save Lantona. Henry Gibson is great as the cheerful Marul, RIP.

SG-1 and the renegades manage to save the day by fixing the Sentinel, and Grieves gets redemption by using it to banish the Goa'uld from the planet. Though of course they sacrifice themselves with Grieves vanishing and Kershaw dying at the end.

We also have a callback to the System Lords at the Summit earlier this season. We hear Svarog, the only System Lord not named at the Summit. He was the bald guy in green with face tattoos. Thanks for the reaction Failwhale and look forward to your response to the last two episodes of S5, peace.

Cool depiction of a regressive society.

Not sure why this episode gets all the hate. It's mediocre, but hardly bad. Cool seeing Grogan back from Proving Ground. Seems he learned how to not get shot finally since he's apparently the only one of his team to survive. Grieves and Kershaw were basically retconned in. They didn't actually appear in Shades of Grey. Not sure if they couldn't get the actors for Tobias and Newman back or what. They were rather cleverly edited into the previously on clip. Decent enough redemption arc for them though. It seems like the sentinel is a one use device per operator. There's probably a new caretaker called whenever an attack happens. That might just be a requirement of the technology, or perhaps a safety measure to prevent it from being used for evil. Not much more to say about this one. It's ok. Straight bangers for the next few weeks though.

This is what I wondered too. Plus, I wonder why Grieves disappeared when the Sentinel fired. If that's the price to pay whenever someone fires it, does that mean there are other Caretakers to step in?

Evangeline B Walker

Nice to see Grogan again from the training episode with Haley and Lt. Elliot. I like when they bring back people including Col. Maybourne

Oh boy, holding my breath for what's next and the run to s6 end, I remember what it was like at the time and the fanbase views on it.. I think it's aged better than the hottakes. On the tech in this episode, it seems like effectively it needs somebody to decide what to take out and as a result that person dies.

James Yancy

It's kind of crazy that they couldn't decide what rank Grogan was in this episode. Gen. Hammond called him a sergeant, and Col. O'Neill called him Lieutenant. Given the group he was running with in Proving Ground it seems more likely he would be a Lieutenant.

Brent Justice

Finally sat down to the reaction, thank you. The episode kinda ended abruptly, I wish they had fleshed out the ending a little better. But overall an ok episode, wasn't stellar but wasn't the worse. I did like the use of all the military tactics at the beginning, the launching of a UAV, painting the targets, then firing two missiles through the gate to take out those placements, pretty amazing what primitive Earthlings can do against the Goa'uld :p

Timothy Nikiforovs

This happened with a few different characters throughout the series. I think Maternal Instinct had something similar happen

Limi V

I rank this episode 'just okay'. The civilization we meet is rather anemic and while the invasion was interesting in theory it was just some CGI explosions over a bad CGI city. Jack and Grogan getting caught in the leader's office was incredibly frustrating. They weren't even keeping a lookout so of course they got shot in the back. What happened to those great warriors of the Tauri? I liked the use of missiles at the beginning, though I'm not sure why they had to fly up before actually intercepting their target. They already knew where the targets were based on footage from the UAV, which was still up at the time. Why do this time consuming maneuver which gives the Jaffa more time to shoot down the missile? And why did the Jaffa not take the opportunity? They just stood there and waited to get hit, like Jack and Grogan later in the episode.
