Yeah, it's not the most exciting episode, but at least you can check off "Carter's been compromised" now. Also the Tok'ra are gonna be an important faction going forward, as you might guess if you look at the upcoming episode titles for S2. I do think The Enemy Within with Kowalski was a better overall episode, but this whole ordeal is gonna have a lasting impact on Sam going forward, so yay for world building.

This episode felt a little slower than it needed to be, but I really enjoyed seeing Sam act so differently. Also an important episode going forward. The SGC is learning more about the goa'uld and the galaxy at large.

I like the episode. I enjoy so slow releasing of morsals of info that it brings. The Nassians and the elements of their culture which is far far more subtle in their markings. The idea of a resistance within the Goa'uld flipping what first looks like a rehash of The Enemy Within episode. I do tho have to admit that it plays better on rewatch after you have seen more the show.

This is an obvious world building episode. While the pace may seem slow, it has potential implications for the series. How the Goa'uld society is built is starting to come through. We are learning more, and there is more to learn, a lot. It shows how much the Tauri really don't know about the makeup of the galaxy. We have just started our stride to the stars, and we have a lot of learning to do about what is going on out there. This is the beginning of that journey. I think as you watch some later episodes, coming back to this one will make more sense. There is more to this, for sure.

Another important thing this episode reveals is about the presence of Naquada in the blood. It allowed Cassandra to sense the Goa'uld in Sam but later we'll find out it has other side effects as well. Let's just say that Naquada in the blood has several benefits.

Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already. A slow-paced episode with little nuggets of information that will come out to be clutch later on. A world-building episode for sure. Like many have said, it is interesting to re-watch this episode after having seen the rest of the seasons. Yes, a little slow, but it starts off Season 2 with the introduction to things like the System Lords, the Ashrak (assassin), and the Tok'ra. All very important pieces in the SG universe.
