On the morning of 15 Lharvion, Rolan Harn assembled his friends and allies at his home. Rolan and Sheriff Constable intended to fully explore the mysterious ruins in the mountains. He took Ink and Sora—the two smartest people people in town—along with the fierce Ja'taarka and Deven Sar'kaas; while only a simple tailor, Deven was surprisingly knowledgable about the history of the region. Constable charged those who remained in town to keep an eye on Breggan and the Black Crowns; he didn't think they'd cause trouble, but it was still a risk.

The day turned out to me more exciting than expected. Bel, Briar, Tari, Vael, and Three Widow Jane prevented an effort to pit the Black Crowns against the Mourners. It was a good day's work, but the day wasn't over. A troop of minotaurs arrived in Threshold; they were after Breggan, and they'd mined the town in an attempt to force her surrender. In an unexpected twist, Briar appealed to Breggan, playing on the bandit's vision of herself as "Queen of the Lost." Guided by the Greensinger, Breggan and the Black Crowns defended Threshold. While there were a few tragic losses, the brunt of the casualties were suffered by the Black Crowns.

That even saw a second celebration—not as well organized as Bounty's Blessing, but driven by the thrill of survival. In the morning, the Black Crowns returned to the road; inspired by Briar, Breggan truly seemed determined to defend the people she'd once preyed upon. Only time will tell how this story will unfold. But as the Crowns head north, Tari raises a question—Where is Rolan?

The next session will answer that question, as the five adventurers head up to the mountains in search of their friends. The characters will advance to 5th level, and they've acquired some useful equipment in the aftermath of the clash between Breggan and the minotaurs. We'll discuss that in the next email, but first we have to determine WHEN the game will be played. Sunday, September 26th has the most options, but there are some weekday evenings that can work.
