Hi all!

So this video came about after one of our supporters donated their amazing N64 frankencontroller they bought off of craigslist. This kind of monstrosity doesn't fall into our laps everyday folks! So we  ended up taking a detour into N64 games that let you play with TWO controllers because that dual analog ended up being so crucial for 3D. It's such a weird time that was only possible because NO ONE knew what they were doing with the third dimension! Such an interesting moment in history.

I call this video a detour because we were working on another project brought to us by another generous supporter, who is letting us borrow a N64 mouse. N64 mice are SO RARE that I never thought I'd see two in one place. So I'm hoping we can have a video up about that around end of January. We'll see!

As Derek has already announced, we're planning on taking part of January off to relax and move apartments. We also got an opportunity to adopt a new dog into our family, so we're going to have a second pup running around by next week. SO EXCITED!

Dude, we have so many cool ideas lined up for next year (among other things, I finally managed to get a working Ngage :o). Happy for the new year and hope y'all are doing well!

Thanks for everything,

Grace

You guys are awesome. Thanks for keeping up with the awesome content. Can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for all of us in 2021. Good luck!

Jose

Please show puppy. And happy new year!

Happy new year! Loved the video, but I have to be "that guy" and say that the first "dual analog stick" games actually were found as far back as the Atari home consoles. Heck, Robotron 2084 was the "first" in the Robotron line, and that had twin stick support on the old Atari home consoles! My dad had a dual stick holder he made so he could play Robotron 2084 and he made it in wood shop class in the early 80s. Definitely a good video idea to follow up to this one - the atari twin stick games!

Woah, I'd like to see a video on THAT sort of stuff. I bet there was at least one manufactured peripheral for Atari or some other 80s console that did this.

It's hideous but I love it. Goldeneye/Perfect Dark have widescreen options too, like the wii it'll output a 16:9 image in a 4:3 video signal for your TV to stretch. Truly the future was then.

Great Joe

I'm here for those dang dual meeces. Hope the move treats you well and that 2021 treats you better.

New year, new dog, new place! Woo! God speed with all the changes!

I dug around and can't seem to find any official ones, but it looks like people are 3D printing their own these days. Granted, I remember using my dad's when I was a kid and it was basically a cut-down 2x4 with various bits and pieces to act as the "holders". So hopefully someone did make something better. Wouldn't be surprised though if the crash of the early 80s maybe got that product cancelled. Still would be a fun treasure hunt! Good crossover potential with Gaming Historian :D
