Hey all!

I've had a couple of people ask me/mention doing a map for the house. I have no idea on where to get started on this so thought I would put the idea out there for all of you.

Also, I am toying with the idea of starting a Wiki page for HFHM. I have no idea how to go about that, but if we start a Wiki page, then we can all make fun decisions like birthdays and such for all the monsters!

Comment below if you have some ideas! Going back to work on the short story!

In my opinion the Geas would make mapping 'hard' if not completely unfeasible. However I like the idea of a Wiki seems like good world building, but Wikis tend to be time intensive to make/maintain so there is that tradeoff

Ooo maybe instead just short <1 page bios on the monsters/magic items/house?

I've been thinking about the house thing for a while now. There are a ton of floor plan software in the internet that you could use, but I'd use something simple and that could allow more than one person to work on the plan at the same time like this one: https://www.gliffy.com/examples/floor-plansIf you get a plan that you are happy with, it's easy to build a 3d version of it later. As for the wiki, the easiest way is to use a service like wikia: http://www.wikia.com/Special:CreateNewWiki

That would require a custom software to do. I could do it, but not for free :p

Annabelle Hawthorne

It would have to be a deal where I start it and let the fans take off with it for certain. I prefer writing and talking to you folks over website maintenance ;)

Yeah, I think something like a wikia is the best way to go.

Wow, what a great idea! I just wish I had the time to help.

Wonder if there's some way to hide parts of the house so they aren't visible until you reveal them in the story. Simple way, leave them off and update later. Speaking of houses that change, have you ever listened to "The Fourth Tower of Inverness"? A GREAT audio adventure. Check out ZBS.org.

The Administrators of a Wiki can set access rights for the pages based on the credentials of the person viewing. Depending on the wiki, this can be filtered down to specific parts of the page (i.e. sections or paragraphs). For example, this would allow all the information to be present in the wiki for Annabelle to use and refer to, but only release the information that is already known. Something like this would also allow the wiki to be "family friendly" unless the user logged in and was a Patreon member or has a verified age.

Regarding the house map, I think as the story continues, it would almost be necessary for the reader. Yes, there is a geas involved, but that is on the characters, not the reader. The characters see everything and know it, whether they can verbalize or remember it, but the reader only has the author's descriptions, and some of those are ten or fifteen chapters and several months in the past. Someone mentioned floor plans and I think this is a good idea, though my mental image of the house is more "Winchester Mansion" than "Victorian Home on the corner."
