"I need to grow more wheat than I trampled on, rebuild more houses than I burned down..." full body chills I tell you.

that shot of thorfinn looking at his clenched fist with all the scars and calluses makes me appreciate the detail and focus that hands have in vinland. yukimura (author) has mentioned hands are the most expressive part of a character after the face so he takes a lot of time drawing them. makes his art style unique and im glad mappa is faithful to that

same, honestly. thorfinn is top 3 of my favourite characters ever made and trust me, i've watched a lot of shows/movies and read a lot of books. so that is an acomplishment that didn't even crossed my mind when i was watching s1. i loved season 1 but damn, then i started reading the manga and the story and thorfinn himself skyrocketed in my favourites list. i can't wait for the rest of the manga to get animated because it's definelt going to end up in my top 10 of shows, maybe even top 5.

“Far to the west…” gives me immediate tears

SPOILER warning (kinda). I read the manga as well and I would say that next to Einar, Thorfinn is the most bland character of the series. It's very similar to what JoJo's Bizarre Adventures does (after Joseph) where the main character take a backseat to the other more colorful characters. You can't really kill your main protagonist so in order to create tension you need to make the audience pay more attention to the other more disposable characters. Thus the main character becomes a plot device with the purpose of bringing the protagonists of the respective arc together. Very common trick used in manga. For example in the farm arc, we're introduced to Snake and Thorgil which get as much attention as Thorfinn. In an interview the author mentioned the Byzantine Empire arc which he ultimately decided to skip. Had this arc materialized, I suspect the farm arc was also meant to serve as foreshadowing of the reappearance of those two as the main protagonists.

SPOILER: I so hope the anime gives us the Miklagard arc. I really want to see the development of Thorfin and Gudrid's relationship and more of Snake. Thorfin as a merchant also came up a bit short for me in the manga. With any luck, we'll get a 12 episode anime arc (season 4) or a multi-part OVA special about a story arc in that arc.

I agree with the Jojo's comparison (except Jolyne)
