I initially thought that Thors' sacrifice will affect Askeladd to the point of him becoming like Thors. We have the foreshadowing of Askeladd saying him and Thors have the same smell, Askeladd saying he has responsibilities as a leader, and Thors essentially recommending to him to get a wife and start a family. As Thorfinn sees these changes in Askeladd, he finally understands what his father tried to tell him all that time. Thors couldn't get through his son but through his sacrifice he got his son a surrogate father that could. This would have been a wholesome story but Vinland Saga does not do wholesome. I quit the show after it became obvious that there's no real point to the story, just terrible characters doing terrible things with little or no justification. I really don't know why anyone enjoys this show... what's the point?

Not every show is sunshine and rainbows. You though the vikings in real life were wholesome people? This is a show about the brutal realities of life and has amazing story telling and some of the best character development I've ever seen. How can you say a story has no point while you quit a show before even halfway through? If the genre and mood of the show was too dark for you just say that but it is most definitely not a bad show by any means

yeah, between this and the live action i think mob is the only uplifting show you're watching and it's only once a week. tbh i just watched three spy x family episodes and that show is a serotonin boost, i think you could fit that after mob just to balance things a bit. if not you're just going to watch depressing shows 😂 hope at least you're watching happier shows on your spare time.

First of all, you literally stated you only watched the show halfway so how can you even judge it properly. Second of all, nobody asked for you to continue commenting on a show you dislike. Third of all, just because a show doesnt go your way, dont make it a bad show. I bet you can name a few of your favorite shows and I can say what I dislike bout the show but I aint gonna credit the show as "bad". Everyones got their own opinion. And the ratings of this show clearly gives it some credibility that its good. So how bout you actually watch the damn show or stfu before spouting more bitchin over a show you already deemed as bad

And I already explained that the show is pointless because "the point" of it is literally spelled out in the first 2-3 episodes. If you're going to watch something entirely predictable, why not make it something nice rather than something traumatic?

I love this episode! While not being my favorite, it's probably one of, if not the, most important of s1, and I like they chose to show it now in the anime rather than a flashback like in the manga. It set the main characters, and also show more than what we see at first. I recommend looking at it after the end of s1. So many intersecting details to pick up.

@Orr Malus thats the issue with your brain. Somehow you think ppl who watch Vinland Saga just somehow gravitate towards it because of gore. I never told you to like the show. But you keep trying to put the show down as some kind of slasher show just cuz you cant predict the story within the first 4 episodes. Thats sad af. Theres a difference between saying you dont like a show bcuz "blah blah blah" than trying to portray those that watch the show as some kind of sociopaths. All I literally hear from you complain about the show is "oh bruh only gore" when its not. And when you say "I dropped it cuz of the first 3 episodes werent going my way" thats even worse. If you just said "I dont like it cuz theres 2 much gore and violence" then nobody wouldve said anything because thats YOUR PREFERENCE of avoiding gore. Nothing wrong with that. I dislike watching stuff that is too gorey either. However, the rest of your logic is attacking others for liking the show beleving they only liking cuz of the violence.
