Leo

btw did they confirm starting vinland saga?

Anonymous

never knew they mentioned it but I hope it is. Solid anime

Merfhew

At one point, they said they were waiting until the new season got closer. I believe Season 2 comes out in January, so there's still time.

Alex cleveland

I heard thats there top runner for replacing FMAB! Im 100% down for that cause S2 is coming out in the beginning of January 2023!!!

Darrach

There was talk of Hunter X Hunter soon also but if it’s replacing this specifically I’m not sure

Camzeee

I think so, yes. Should be Vinland Saga next. I've never seen it so looking forward to watching it with them.

Alex cleveland

I hope they dont do HxH for awhile... I want them to react to other amazing anime that are wayyy shorter than HxH. So many other shows that deserve a watch more than HxH imo

Orr Malus

I don't understand what the appeal of Vinland saga is. The animation is good but every single character in that show is a terrible human being. "I like Vinland Saga" is a major red flag for me.

Leo

??? I really dont get what you mean with the "terrible human being"

Orr Malus

That's what most people associate with thieves, rapists, and murderers. Which literally every character from Vinland Saga is.

Leo

Its a show about vikings... also the father of the mc and pretty much the whole point of the show is the opposite of what you describe... I get not liking the show, but do you just not like shows where every single character is from disney?

Batayroren

@Max I don't remember which reaction it was but they did say they were planning on watching Vinland Saga and wanted to line it up with S2 release.

Orr Malus

The point of Vinland Saga is to be as gruesome as possible because, as you said it yourself, it's a show about vikings. None of the characters atone for their sins, they just carry on because the manga is making money so there's zero incentive to have the story end. The mc grows up to be a terrible human being and then matures into a slightly less terrible human being. Who even relates to that? I just don't get it.

Rinne

Malus you're embarrassing yourself with this take. Even if it was as shallow as a story where bad people do bad things it could still be fantasticly written. But it's not that.

Batayroren

@Rinne He's reminding me of all the comments on the last anime poll saying Mob Psycho is only "action and fights" and that L&M wouldn't like it because it has no character development lol

Orr Malus

@Batayroren Did I say anything the like about Mob Psycho? No. So why are you mentioning stuff other people said at some time in some poll lol?

Batayroren

I didn't say you said anything about Mob. I said your bad take on Vinland Saga reminds me of the bad takes I was reading on Mob. I can see you probably don't comprehend any subtleties in Vinland Saga and likely most other media you ingest.

Orr Malus

Yes, I do indeed have a strong aversion towards media that glorifies rapists, thieves, and murderers for the sake of entertainment. Funny how all you Vinland Saga fans never contradicted me when I said all characters are thieves, rapists, and murderers. I guess all of that is ok as long as you have your "subtleties" lol.

Danny

i dont think you have to "relate" to a character in order to enjoy a show. the characters are mostly evil as you say but what of it? Do I relate to anyone in Mob Psycho? Not rly. If I like villains such as Light Yagami, Homelander, Tywin Lannister, King Bradley does it mean Im one irl? No, I like my fair share of heroes and villains. I simply dont see bad ppl and be like "hey, cant relate so not gonna watch". Its actually the opposite for me, its more interesting to watch ppl you DONT understand in order to see something from their perspective even if its abnormal or bad. The rape and the gore arent the reason to watch this show. No one comes into this show being "HELL YEAH I WANNA SEE RAPE AND BLOODIED BODY PARTS!" At least, not for me. Obviously I cant say what I enjoyed specifically, since that would be spoilers and I never read the manga so I cant say what would happen but I personally enjoyed the mc's character progression in the first season, which is supposedly a prelude to the real stuff coming up.

Batayroren

Yeah, morally grey & "bad" characters are definitely not interesting. We can use Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul as good examples of this. Wait a second... If you're only interested in rainbows and sunshine, Tanjiro's and Naruto's cool but plenty of people do enjoy seeing morally grey or evil characters. Does not mean they are striving for that in their personal lives nor do they need to relate to enjoy the story. I don't know why you assume people need to relate to something to be entertained by it. Lastly, there is no need to contradict your statement of them being "thieves, rapists, and murderers." you're the one that takes issue with that, most others won't. It's a show, we don't need the characters to take care of our grandma's.

Orr Malus

Walter White, Saul Goodman, and Light Yagami are all main characters of their show and can indeed be described as "morally gray". At no point were any of them saved by a little girl and as payment they invited their friends over to kill her family, friends, and then do unspeakable things to her. There's such a thing as "morally gray" and then there's "pure evil". Trying to sugarcoat evil acts as "morally gray" = major red flag.

Danny

SPOILERS AHEAD: Once again, you are somehow under the impression that most people watch Vinland Sage for "rape, gore and brutality of vikings". While Im sure there are people out there that do enjoy that, most, including myself, did not choose to watch the show and be like "Holy gods, that scene was graphic man. I really want to see more." No, the rape and violence is only a testament to how brutal that time was. In NO SCENE, was the brutality of this age glorified or portrayed as "acceptable" except by those within the show (the vikings). For me, the message of the show as loud and clear. Thorfin trying to find his way in this brutal world and attempting to understand the meaning of being a true warrior. The classic Viking like Thorkell believes it being the strongest fighter. However, Thors found a different answer which made him run away from the violence of his people. The show's primary message literally telling you that this era was brutal and filled with ridiculous violence. I don't see why you are saying those who enjoy this show is somehow liking it for the "rape, violence and brutality". That's something you, with your narrow, self righteous view somehow conjured up.

Batayroren

"...but plenty of people do enjoy seeing morally grey or **evil** characters." Why are you cherry picking and spoiling the show at the same time? Gus? Salamanca's, Lalo? I used one example, I assumed you would be able to fill in the blanks without me having to give examples of everything man. Patrick Bateman from American Psycho? All the villains from Fargo TV series? I guess everyone who enjoyed those shows are walking "red flags." Anyone who enjoys slasher horror movies are walking red flags and bad people? What? Why do I have a feeling your parents pay for your Patreon subscription? You have shit arguments. Edit: Don summed it up plenty well. You do you and all I just definitely think it's a very bad, shallow and narrow minded take.

Danny

SPOILERS:There's also a big difference between enjoying a character and agreeing with their actions. I think I can take a guess to what your beef with Vinland Saga fans is and probably has to do with Askeladd, someone who's quite popular with the fandom. I also view him as my favorite character in the show. And yet, in no moment, did I think of him as a role model nor a good person. If I met someone like him in real life, I would bolt the fuck out. However, he is still an interesting character to watch as we can see how he became who he is today and how his goals differ from those of Vikings who murdered for personal glory. Is he evil? Yes, certainly the actions hes committed are heinous. However, he was an integral part of the story and to Thorfinn whos relationship with him is a main focus of the season. Once again, having a character as your favorite DOES NOT mean you agree with their actions and their choices. Also, a lot of people deviate to villains because they are imperfect. Unlike most protagonists and heroic characters who are pretty much perfect and without fault, these imperfect characters with flaws, evils, and shaky morality makes them far more interesting to watch. I heavily enjoy those type of characters. Not because they are simply villains but they are imperfect and controversial. Homelander, Tywin Lannister, Walter White, Askeladd, Bradley/Father, Zeke/Eren, etc.
