This episode literally proves that before the death note Light was completely different and not a psychopathic sadist. However that is all we have been able to figure out about how he is without the note book in this episode. There may be things that hasn’t been shown yet.

Da li ste u Srbiji? #Tim KIRA

Mati D.

We are now basically knowing the real Light, without a Death Note, remember that we only meet him for 10 mins in the first episode, now we are gonna meet him without it. I always loved this part of the show, how they show us both sides of a person and what a Death Note does to a person.

Melkor

L is now officially Confused as hell. Lmao

Melkor

Remember that from now on Light will be as he would have stayed if he never found the death note so don’t think of him as Kira now in the sense that Kira is still in control because it’s just light now.

I disagree on that. The noble do-gooder guy you're seeing isn't Light anymore, that's almost another individual. When you remove essential parts of a person's personality, they're not that person anymore. The character traits that make Light who he is are present before he even uses the notebook. Traits such as utter disgust for the state of the world and contempt for the weak. And by removing his knowledge of the notebook, fundemental parts of what makes Light who he is were removed. Go and look back on episode 1 and see the stuff he thinks about. These aren't the same people.

Jacob

It certainly seems to portray him that way, but I'm not ready yet to accept that as proof of anything. Just because, if that wasn't already in him, where did those behaviors come from? Maybe later episodes will complicate things, but right now from my point of view, Kira is the real Light, because it's the one that emerged when Light was given power over life and death with no consequences.

Sam

I think they had misa confined like that because they think/know she can just kill at will without knowing the names, but first kira needs to know the name, so misa is far more dangerous.

But like, she's been sleeping upright and with her whole body tied like it's the insane asylum for a whole week. They could've given her a bed at the very least.

Just like in the purge where crime is legal for 12hours, or movies where it seems like the world is ending, things like that tend to undo the limitations that humans have and people tend to act out their primal urges. I think in that same sense, the book doesn't really change anything about anyone. So pre-deathnote light and post-deathnote light are still the exact same person. It's just that the freedom to act o your thoughts/impulses without repercussions makes some people act like monsters. I recommend Inuyashiki for anyone who wants to see this kind of topic explored. You may not be used to the art style, but it's a really great anime

yellownart

I think the reason Misa is confined like that is because they have actual pieces of evidence linking her to being the second Kira (the hair and clothing fibers attached to the tapes) while there is literally zero evidence of Light being Kira, it's just L's intuition/hunch that that it could be Light. The fact they don't know how Kira kills, they are probably being extra cautious with Misa with what freedoms she gets. I'm open to being wrong though. I guess if they wanted to do that they could have done it to both Light and Misa, but idk

20:51 remember, Light is suspect to be Kira and Misa is suspect to be the 2nd Kira who "can kill without knowing the name"

K Vonnegut

It's mainly due to the fact that they know the second Kira only needs a face to kill because of the police officers who went in front of Sakura TV were killed on the spot

Jacob

L's confusion at the end did seem a little strange to me, just because the sudden new deaths is easy to explain. If there's a second Kira, there could be a third Kira as well. The team still has no idea what this power is or where it comes from. I mean, Misa basically gave them the answer, but it seems like they've dismissed that possibility at too absurd for some reason, which is interesting. Maybe the problem here is that there are just so many unknowns that the team on some level wants or needs to investigate this like an ordinary crime to the small extent that they are able to.

Patrick

I always took his confusion as being he can tell they are telling the truth, let’s say L is just a good lie detector. And the ‘truth’ doesn’t make sense with the evidence etc. so he’s a bit confounded by what’s going on. Even with Light being a good liar before he lost his memories, L is basically sure he’s Kira.

Anonymous

The reason they locked up Misa so differently is because they had every evidences to link her to the Second Kira. And by now, L and the others clearly noticed that the second kira killing power far exceed those of the original one. They know she basically only needs a face to kill judging by how things went at the TV diffusion tower. And since her powers are so OP compared to the first Kira they're being extra precautious because they don't know the full extent to her powers. Whereas for Light, they know that the OG Kira needs more things to kill and could've killed everyone by now if he had that kind of powers. So they don't need to go that far for him. It is horrible to witness but it kinda makes sense

full reaction still coming? i dont wanna wait all night for nothing

Mati D.

Maybe she fell asleep waiting to been processed =(

tom

I mean like others are saying Misa is 100% the Second Kira in their eyes, and she's even more dangerous because she can kill just by looking at you. The only one that thinks Light is Kira on the task force is L and he knows that Light is smart enough to know if any of them die while he's in prison it will confirm that he's Kira. But Misa is a wild card and might just do it to try and escape

PM

The book doesn't do shit to the person.. it's just a tool.

David Caine

Yeah, plus Light was already running around free and pretending innocence in L's eyes. Playing the prisoner, it's pointless blindfolding Light or restraining him from committing suicide, like Misa tried to do. L knows or suspects that Light's endgame is to suggest innocence, and he already knows the other's faces and names. There is no need to bound him, but instead L wants Light to have the freedom to play his games. And the Chief was restrained because who knows what he might do, even he himself said it. Not that he would help his son, of course not, but more drastic actions out of emotion might overwhelm the most righteous, honest man in this show.
