I didn't take Rebecca's comment about Chuck's mental illness as a way to excuse Chuck's actions (I actually think his mental illness stems more from his divorce than anything to do with Jimmy, though I would say Jimmy exacerbates it), but more that if two brothers are at odds and in a really bad place, but you know one of them is clearly struggling and suffering, if you are of sound mind and can help, you should still try to help. Jimmy knew what he did would likely result in getting himself out of trouble but would destroy Chuck. Rebecca is saying, you got the outcome you wanted, now make sure your brother is OK. You don't have to be his friend, you don't have to like him, just make sure he is OK and will let us in. In Jimmy's mind at this time, he's ready to sever ties, and what Chuck did to him by setting him up and trying to ruin his career ended everything, including trying to be there for his brother. But I'm sure there are a lot of ways to interpret all of this.

Nacho really is so sweet & cute!! I love him. one reason I love BCS so much is that I genuinely love and care for all of the primary characters. They're all so dang lovable. Well, Chuck isn't I guess, but he does elicit other strong emotions in me lol. I feel like the writers and actors do a great job making the characters likable and sympathetic.

A lesser show would make Chuck a completely despicable person to morally justify his suffering. But Chuck is such a complex character. His resentment towards Jimmy is irrational but kind of understandable when you consider his perspective. Jimmy was more or less a stranger to him until he bailed Jimmy out of trouble. Jimmy was only a child when Chuck had already moved out of the house so there was a big age gap between them which probably caused a sense of alienation between them. But deep down he really does care about Jimmy. And it's hard not to sympathize with him struggling to get over his illness.

A little detail I noticed on this rewatch is that he still grounds himself when he goes to Chuck’s house. There’s no logical reason to do this anymore except that he guesses Chuck would still want it. And even though Chuck isn’t watching, he still does it. That’s as good a glimpse into the kind of friend Howard is as anything.
