“You two guys are just guys, mr white, he’s the devil. He’s smarter than you, he’s LUCKIER than you. Whatever you think is gonna happen the exact reverse opposite is gonna happen.” I love that line because it shows how overwhelming and scary the idea of fighting Walt is for Jesse. He feels like there’s no way to win, even if he out smarts and out plays Walt at every turn that Walt will still magically come out on top, because throughout the entire show that’s what Jesse has seen happen. It’s like Walt posses some indescribable trait where the universe is always on his side.

Ironically, Walt is the only person that still cared about Jesse. Hank only sees him as a tool to get to Walt, hell he even hates Jesse for his past involvement anyway. Skyler sees him as a threat, a rabid dog that needs to be removed. It's kinda sad that the only person that actually cared for Jesse was Walt (and yes even at the end scene, you could see the pain and hesitation in his eyes). Even after Jesse came and literally threw gasoline over his house, he tried to convince himself that Jesse changed his mind and he could talk it out with him. If it was anyone else he would've already ordered a hit instantly.

yeah, i think we mentioned a couple of times that walt is the only thing jesse really has and that's what made all the times walt manipulated jesse so much worse for us

It's like you girls love Jessie so much that you refuse to see what the writers tried to tell you early in this episode. Walter could not even consider the option to hurt Jessie. Walter has risked everything, more than once, to save Jessie. Walter poisoned Brock, but if Walt wanted Brock to die, that kid would be dead. As for Jessie... Walter got angry at the idea that Saul suggested hey kill Jessie like Old Yeller (second time Saul has suggested to kill Jessie). Also, Walter was genuinely shocked that Skylar told him to kill Jessie. How does Jessie show his appreciation? Jessie came to burn his family home to burn it. Jesse turned into a snitch. Jessie just threatened Walt on the phone and put him on edge. He broke Walt, and Walt obviously called Todd to put a hit out on Jessie. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Agreed, that line was loaded with so much dramatic irony. And it similar in impact to the line, "someone has to protect this family from the man who protects this family."

When Walt took out the 2 gang bangers he clearly cared about Jesse. He even let Jane die to help Jesse. But he only replaced Gale with Jesse to keep Jesse from going after Hank.

Remember that people throughout the episode were suggesting to Walt to kill Jesse. Saul and Skyler, but he kept refusing. Now, Jesse said "No, asshole. I'm gonna hurt you where you really live." Previously, Walt sent Hewel to check out his school to see if he went after his son, but said "I can't imagine Jesse doing this..." Now he hears Jesse saying "I'll hurt you where you really live." Maybe Walt thinks that means going after his family. After all, he poisoned someone Jesse loved. He may think it's equal payback. So, after all the resistance, I think it makes sense for Walt to finally give in, and call Todd to take out the Rabid Dog. After all, in Walt's eyes, Jesse is acting rabid now.....
