So passes the most unambiguously good character in the show. Not even in death would Soichiro violate his principles and become a murderer. Probably the reason why he was the only person who Light didn't want to disappoint. I kind of understand that since my own father is like the most honest and hardworking person I've ever seen, and I always hate to let him down even as an adult. Ryuk is dead (heh) on here. The Deathnote is amazingly powerful but it's likely Light would be happier without it now. Power doesn't just corrupt- it breeds misery. 8 episodes left, and closing on the grand finale!
