I love Halo content, this is so cool. You said you want more Covenant Lore? You're gonna love Halo 2. The one thing that frustrated many of us when we first saw this film in 2015 was that it only depicts the first half of the book The Fall of Reach. You should read the book Meg, a lot of the questions you're asking are answered in the 2nd half of the Fall of Reach novel. I mean for a film called "The Fall of Reach" I was expecting to see the fall of Reach. The novel Halo: First Strike depicts what happens between Halo 1 and Halo 2. Also written by Eric Nylund, author of the Fall of Reach. He also wrote an excellent short story "The Impossible Life and Possible Death of Preston J. Cole" I love that title by the way. It's found in the book "Halo: Evolutions". Also just to clarify something, in the ship battle depicted in the movie the ship UNSC Commonwealth sacrificed 3 Longsword fighter planes to lure the Covenant ship to a safe distance where they then launched the nuke. Judging by the tone of voice of one Longsword pilots, it sounded like he was aware that his fighter planes were being sacrificed to save the ship. What was that thing Keyes woke up from you ask? He was in Cryosleep. It's a common trope in sci-fi that for long distance travel the crew is frozen and then thawed out upon arrival. Like in Interstellar, or Ridley Scott's Alien movie. Halo is heavily influenced by the Alien franchise.

Also ... since you love lore, Bungies earlier success was a series of games called Marathon. with a cyborg marine silent hero (sound familiar?). The aliens called the Pfhor was the enemy, and it consisted as multiple alien species united under a religous ... covenant. One of the species was called The Hunter and had huge blade like shields on its arms and a plasma cannon. Its full of ship-board AIs. There was a Marathon creature called a Sharquoi that appeared in the Halo 1 demo but got cut, they tried to put it into Halo 2 but it also got cut... it eventually made it into a novel. Their game before Marathon, as well as Marathon also had ancient civilizations that were destroyed by something similar to the flood. The Halo games use the Marathon logo as a symbol in many parts of the games. Leading up to Halo CE, there was a bunch of "Cortana Letters"... before Cortana was unveilled, but recognizable as a Marathon-style AI ... it was while the game was in early development so they don't really fit Cortana's final personality: https://halo.fandom.com/wiki/Cortana_Letters It is believed that Marathon and Halo exist in the same game universe., and it was initially assumed Halo was a sequel to Marathon's 3rd game. The 3rd Marathon if I remember correctly had parallel time loops, and thus Halo can exist in a parallel Marathon universe.... Bungie now has a new version of Marathon in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

OMG! So should I wait to play/react to Marathon content, or are the original versions worth playing?
