This episode reminds me of Batman's first appearances going all the way back to 1939 when he was not only violent, but he was killing without any mercy or fear. In 1940 we saw the introduction of Dick Grayson Robin, which also happened to be point in which Batman stopped killing and turned down the level of violence. Since that introduction there has been this idea that Robin exists to help prevent Batman from going to far, and this episode utilizes that idea perfectly.

Yeah, this was a definitely a really good Robin episode! He’s got a few really good episodes coming up! And of all the redesigns for this season of the show, Scarecrow definitely has the best! As a kid, I was just like.. whoa! lol And I always liked this premise, too. A Batman without fear is a scary thing to imagine, and Kevin plays it so well!
