ReadyMix　Snare Solo (Patreon)

Here's the drum solo from Readymix I transcribed. The take is from Sweden 1977. 

Since around this take, Buddy starts playing more simple and straight ahead solos on this chart. This snare solo is one of the best examples of Buddy Rich snare solo. Only in 8 bars, it contains many phrases that are frequently used such as the fast triplets. The way he plays the fast stroke in this solo is highly versatile which is often played as "RLLRLRRLRLRL."

This was also often used on Bugle Call Rag or West Side Story in 1960s, which I will explain in later posts.

今回コピーしたReadymixのソロは1977年にスウェーデンで録音されたテイクです。特に音質が良くて驚かされます。大体この時期からこの曲を演奏するときのバディのソロがよりわかりやすく、ストレートで勢いのあるソロになっていきますが、このテイクがそれを代表するテイクと言ってもいいかもしれません。

たった８小節のソロですが、バディリッチのお決まりフレーズとも言えるようなフレーズが数多く登場しています。例えばちょうど真ん中あたりから始まる高速の３連のストロークですが、RLLRLRRLRLRLという手順で演奏されるバディリッチのお決まりフレーズの中でもトップを争うレベルのフレーズです。

1960年代のBugle Call RagやWest Side Storyのソロ中に頻繁に登場しています。これについての詳細は後ほどの記事で解説しようと思います。
